Jason Giambi Paying Off for the Rockies

About two weeks ago, the Colorado Rockies signed Jason Giambi. It hasn’t taken the slugger long to find a useful role on his new ballclub.
On Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Giambi had a pinch hit game-winning at-bat in the 8th inning when he broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single. In three pinch hit at-bats, Giambi is perfect at the plate and has knocked in four runs.
Giambi’s production is coming at a key time for Colorado. In the NL Wild Card race, the Rockies lead the San Francisco Giants by 1 game and the Florida Marlins by 4 games. …read more
Jason Giambi to Sign with the Rockies

After being released by the Oakland Athletics, many wondered whether Jason Giambi had reached the end of his Major League Baseball career. Apparently, he hasn’t. On Sunday, a number of reports surfaced that Giambi is close to signing a deal with the Colorado Rockies.
The 38-year-old struggled in his 83 games with the A’s. He hit .193 with 11 home runs, 39 runs and 40 RBIs. While he missed part of the year with a strained quad muscle on his right leg, it is believed that Giambi is now healthy.

You know how we made a big fuss about the Red Sox-Indians game we attended last week, the one where Boston clinched a playoff spot?
Well, we’re about to make a big fuss about the Red Sox-Yankees game we and some pals took in last night—the final game of the regular season and the final game of 2008 for a certain pinstriped New York team.
