Ok, so that is just a guess, but the fact remains that the Lions management have not talked to Jeff Backus about moving from left tackle to guard. That move would be necessitated by picking a left tackle.
Still find it odd that most Lions fans want to draft a lineman.
So what if Backus did have to move to guard?

Matt Millen destroyed the Detroit Lions. One of his special skills was to pick wide receivers with ultra high draft picks. They are almost all gone, Charles Rodgers, Mike Williams, Roy Williams. Only Calvin Johnson remains out of that group.
