If Favre doesn’t come back, Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and John David Booty are all expected to make the Vikings. But if Favre unretires, one will almost certainly have to be released.

If Favre doesn’t come back, Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and John David Booty are all expected to make the Vikings. But if Favre unretires, one will almost certainly have to be released.

Booty was drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. While he might be expendable, the Vikings coaches seem to like him and believe he has a good amount of potential.

Rosenfels was acquired during the offseason from the Houston Texans in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Considering that they just acquired him, it’s unlikely that Minnesota will opt to release him prior to his first season.

That leaves Jackson. He was a second round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft but he has underwhelmed thus far in his career. He has only one year left on his deal and could be the one to see the ax if Favre rolls into town.

I have a confession to make. I don’t like USC. There are few teams that I can’t stand, but that’s one of them. That said, I admire a good team game when I see one, and last night’s game against #6 Arizona State was a thing of beauty.

USC is shaking its Booty (literally) at opponents, showing that they are still in it to win it. Well, to win the Rose Bowl at least – the ship has sailed on the National Championship for them.

I have a confession to make. I don’t like USC. There are few teams that I can’t stand, but that’s one of them. That said, I admire a good team game when I see one, and last night’s game against #6 Arizona State was a thing of beauty.

The teams went point for point for a while, with a second quarter scoreboard showing us 17 all. Yesterday, I predicted a USC win, and QB John David Booty and the Trojans didn’t disappoint. The Sun Devils began to fall apart and whatever any of the coaches said in the locker room didn’t work. USC stopped ASU dead in their tracks on almost every play (ASU QB Rudy Carpenter was sacked 6 times), and Booty was on point, throwing for 375 yards and 4 touchdown passes.

Final score? 44 – 24. Ouch, ASU. That hurts.

USC has one more game – UCLA – and will likely play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. And hey, maybe Booty even still has a chance for the Heisman if he has another major day. You never know.
