Heath Ledger died while filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (premieres on October 16, 2009) and, truly, I wasn’t expecting much from it. The title is off-putting and since he couldn’t complete the movie, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law stepped in. I expected it to turn into a disorganized mess but I hadn’t taken the professionalism of the crew and those actors into account.

Comic-Con ‘09: Disney’s 3D panel

Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt, aka the voice of Remy from Ratatouille, moderated the “Disney 3D” panel, kicking off Comic-Con’s first ever panel to show film footage in 3D. Special 3D glasses were handed out to everyone in attendance to make this possible.
The first 3D film Disney showed off was A Christmas Carol, the latest Robert Zemeckis “digital cinema” film, starring Jim Carrey. Now Playing: “Public Enemies”

Public Enemies was released in theaters today and I think it looks like an incredibly intriguing and interesting film. Based on the non-fiction book Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933–34 by Bryan Burroughs, it tell the story of FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) who “set his sights on American gangsters John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) and Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum) in an attempt to curb a rampant Midwest crime spree during the 1930s.” The film was directed by Michael Mann and was filmed mostly in Wisconsin.
