1. Tyreke Evans, Sacramento Kings
The Kings had the fourth pick in the draft and decided to pick Evans. He’s not a bad player but if they wanted a point guard, Rubio made a lot of sense. Curry also probably would have helped more.

2. Jonny Flynn, Minnesota Timberwolves
After picking Rubio at 5, the Timberwolves turned around and took Flynn at 6. Back to back point guards? That doesn’t make much sense, especially when both point guards are small.

3. Darren Collison, New Orleans Hornets
The Hornets went the ultimate safe route at 21. Collison, at the very best, will be a backup point guard. He’s probably more of a third point guard.

4. Rodrigue Beaubois, Dallas Mavericks
Beabois is talented but there’s no way he’s a first round talent. He needs to learn the point guard position and there’s no guarantee that he’ll ever be able to do that.

5. Christian Eyenga, Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers need help next year. If they don’t win it all, LeBron James could lead for a bigger market. In the first round, the Cavs decide to go with a prospect who needs two or three years? That didn’t make much sense.

Worst Picks in the 2009 NBA Draft

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim wasn’t the least bit surprised.  According to ESPN.com he said, “. We hate to lose him, but the opportunity that he has and will take advantage of I think is tremendous. It’s a lot of money and it’s hard to not take. He’s been great for us and we wish him nothing but the best.”

After hiring an agent, it's NBA or bust for Syracuse standout Jonny Flynn.

Flynn may be considered a small point guard, but his performance in the Big East Tournament (especially a six-overtime game against UCONN) pretty much showed the rest of the country what he is capable of doing when the ball is in his hands. Flynn was named tournament MVP after a loss against Louisville in the championship game, only the fourth time a player from the losing team received the award.

The NBA draft will be held on June 25. We’ll see if Flynn’s decision pays off.

Jonny Flynn Chances The NBA

If it were not for the scintillating dribbling and manuevering skills of point guard Jonny Flynn, Syracuse would be my least favorite team around. Arinze Okuanaukauau or whatever acts like he is Shaq or something, waltzing around making faces, showing off. Shaq can do that, Shaq is, well, Shaq. Arinze makes Shaq look like Jeff Hornacek at the free throw line. Come on, one for your last 17 from the charity stripe coming into the UConn marathon, give me a break. Arinze needs to put in more time shooting, not posing. This Syracuse team is so undisciplined and erratic. I don’t like them much, especially Boeheim. I think I might have more respect for Coach K than I do for Jim.

I better stop now.

The Cuse and I will have to become pretty familiar this upcoming season since big things are expected out of them in 08/09.
