JR Smith and Jason Richardson Suspended

JR Smith and Jason Richardson were both recently suspended by the NBA for driving offenses. As a result, both players will begin the 2009-10 season on the sidelines.
JR Smith, who has a chance to start for the Denver Nuggets this season, was suspended for seven games for a reckless driving charge he pleaded guilty to during the offseason. Last year, Smith averaged 15.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 27.7 minutes per game. Each of those stats were a career-high for Smith, who also shot 44.6% from the field and 39.7% from being the three-point arc.

Nuggets Run Past Lakers, Tie Series

The Denver Nuggets needed to win to keep hope alive in the 2009 Western Conference Finals. Using the energy from their home fans and well rounded attack, the Nuggets were able to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers by a final score of 120-101.
The Lakers were trailing by ten points with three minutes remaining and looked capable of making a run. However, J.R. Smith nailed a pair of three-pointers soon after to pull out the win for Denver.

The Nuggets showed NBA nation last night something that hasn’t been seen from them in a long time.
DEFENSIVE INTENSITY.
Thing is, Denver’s been doing it much of the season. But they can score on you so quickly, it often gets overlooked.
Billups was at it, Dahntay Jones was at it—no surprise there. Nene and Kenyon Martin were throwing their chiseled bodies around like they were the Bad Boys. Martin, especially, is always going to get his worth when fouling, not a lot of And 1’s via a Martin foul. Carter, Smith and Andersen off the bench played like the spark plugs that they are.
