The whole thing started after a fraudulent website made it look like Fox News was saying Kanye had died in a “bizarre car crash in Los Angeles.”  The site has since been taken down.

I’m guessing this ridiculousness got started after people say that insane 11-minute film of his, We Were Once in a Fairytale.  It was absolutely crazy (if you haven’t seen it, check it out.  I can’t embed it) and ended with Kanye stabbing himself in a nightclub bathroom.

Kanye West Is Not Dead, Just Crazy

Of course, no reason has been given for the cancellation but fans will be getting their money back, which is good but it’s also a sign that these dates aren’t being rescheduled.

If you bought the tickets online or over the phone, the money will be refunded automatically, otherwise, you can be credited at the point of purchase.

What do you make of this?  I worry about Kanye.  I know he’s got a big ego (or pretends to) but he was really devastated after the death of his mother and this has got to be tough for him.

Kanye West Cancels Tour

According to MTV, Kanye West offered to shoot another video for the single “Best I Ever Had” but Drake actually turned him down.  “That career move was very important to me,” Drake explained.  “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of like people were getting this impression of me that I’m never gonna make a mistake. I’m not made of Teflon. I’m gonna do things for myself sometimes, as opposed to what people want me to do.”

Drake went on to explain that he thought the video was appropriate since it reflected his lyrics:  “If you listen to the song, I’m not saying the most graceful thing in the world. It’s not the most heartfelt song.  I say some pretty wild things in regards to women in the actual song. When me and Kanye were in the studio working on a song for Big Sean, we were talking about it. We saw a comedic element to it. I felt that the climate in the world right now, everything in the world is so serious all the time, my life is serious, I just wanted to laugh, instead of taking myself too serious as the heartthrob and walking hand-in-hand into the movies and taking my shirt off. I felt it’s not that time for me yet. Or maybe never. I’m a very multifaceted person. One thing I told ‘Ye is, ‘I really want to act. I want to act in this video.’ ”

He learned a lesson, though.  As Kanye pointed out, you’ve got to go all the way with something if you’re going to say it’s a “funny” video and this seemed half-serious, especially when you consider what Drake is saying.  “I guess one thing I didn’t consider is what the song personally means to a lot of women,” Drake said. “To those women, I apologize. I do apologize. My intention wasn’t to put anyone down. It was to make them laugh. I wanted people to see something visually different.”

Drake Turns Down Kanye West

I knew that wouldn’t last long.  West is back in the studio working on his new music so some self-absorbed rambling is to be expected.  MTV reports that he said the following about his new stuff:  “I kill that rap sh–, that’s what I do.  Lyrics right now, they’re awes-mazing. They’re basically untouchable. I’m about to take it to a whole ‘nother level. I’d be scared if I was not me.  As far as rapping goes, how can I say this? Jordan, Michael Jackson — it’s what I do.”

Thankfully, he seems to be giving up the pop music.  “It’s time for me to bust another rap album,” he said.  I agree!

Fortunately, as he’s quick to point out, coming up with new material comes easily to West who says he comes up with lyrics through his conversations with people and he doesn’t write any of it down.  I have to admit that that part is pretty impressive.

Kanye West “The Michael Jordan of Rap”

Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails and Oasis have all signed on to perform at the event which runs from July 2-5, 2009 just outside Copenhagen, Denmark.  They join other artists including Lily Allen, The Pet Shop Boys and Slipknot among many others.  What an eclectic group of performers!  There’s something for everyone, it seems.  I wish I could jaunt on over to Denmark to check it out.

Also, if you are an environmentally conscious person, you might be pleased to learn that organizers have chosen a “Green Footsteps” theme for the event to help raise awareness about global climate change.  They estimate that the festival will be attended by approximately 75,000 people so even if they can just change the habits of a third of them, it would be amazing.

Kanye West, Oasis Join Music Fest Lineup

Jimmy (and Cartman, I guess) come up with a joke and it causes all sorts of trouble.  The joke teller asks someone “do you like fish sticks?”  The person then says “yes” and is then immediately told “then you’re a gay fish.”  Fish sticks sounds like “fish d*cks” so if you like them (and admit to enjoying having them in your mouth), then you are a fish who is gay.  Get it?

If you don’t understand the joke, you’re not alone since the cartoon version of Kanye West didn’t particularly enjoy being called a “gay fish” and subsequently went on a rampage.  The whole episode was hilarious and I don’t want to ruin it by telling you too much but if you want to see it, visit the Comedy Network website!

Fortunately, the real-life Kanye found a way to find humor in the situation.  Here’s what he wrote on his blog:

SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT’S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER.  Read the rest of the entry.
