Naidan Wins Mongolia’s First Olympic Gold

Mongolia’s Tuvshinbayer Naidan won the Gold Medal in the men’s 100kg judo competition on Thursday, giving his country its first ever Olympic Gold Medal. Askhat Zhitkeyv of Kazakhstan won the Silver Medal and Movlud Miraliyev of Azerbaijan and Henk Grol of the Netherlands tied for the Bronze Medal.
Mongolia is small country of approximately three million residents, located north of China. They have won 15 previous medals, including a Silver Medal in shooting in Beijing, but Naidan’s is the first Gold for the country.
Final Women’s Volleyball Teams Decided

The field is set for the Beijing Olympics in women’s volleyball. The final four of the twelve teams were chosen at the World Women’s Olympic Qualifying Match in Japan this weekend. Added to the roster are Poland (pictured above), Kazakhstan, Serbia, and Japan. They join the United States, China, Italy, Brazil, Algeria, Russia, Cuba, and Venezuela.
The volleyball matches will be held from August 9-23.
