IU head coach Sampson is gone

ESPN’s Andy Katz is reporting that Indiana University and embattled head coach Kelvin Sampson have reached a buyout agreement of $750,000. Under the terms of the agreement, Sampson will not sue IU for wrongful termination. Apparently, IU learned a valuable lesson that happened a couple of years ago when former Ohio State coach Jim O’Brien won a lawsuit against OSU after they fired him.
I am extremely glad that IU didn’t let Sampson off the hook. This is the second time he has been busted for the same telephone violations, and he should not receive any leniency from IU. Sampson knows …read more

Games to watch this week – February 14th

As we get closer and closer to March madness, the conference battles are heating up. Here are some prime college basketball contests to watch this weekend:
Saturday February 16:
#7 Stanford at Arizona – the Wildcats are on a roll at home right now, as they have defeated Washington State, Washington and USC in their last three home games. Arizona played the Cardinal very tight in their last meeting on January 17th at Stanford, losing 56-52. Stanford needs to be on serious upset alert.

UPDATED February 13: Hoosiers head coach in hot water…again.

UPDATED February 13: The NCAA announced today in a “notice of allegations” that Indiana head coach Kelvin Sampson and members of his staff violated numerous telephone recruiting restrictions that were in place because of his previous violations at Oklahoma. The NCAA also indicated that Sampson about it to the school and NCAA investigators. The NCAA listed five major violations against Sampson, claiming that he gave “false or misleading information” to NCAA investigators.
