VIDEO: And Big Brown Runs Away With the Preakness

As with the previous post, this is a snarkless post because man, are we in awe.
Triple Crown talk for Big Brown is all the buzz–and rightfully so. The leader of the Preakness pack won by an astounding 5 1/4 lengths over Macho Again (great name) and Icabad Crane (another great name. The Kentucky Derby contenders had some cool names–with some interesting explanations).
Wow. Big Brown has some legs!
Bring on Belmont. When you watch a win as convincing as this, you can’t help but think Affirmed’s Triple Crown successor has arrived (2m, 17s). Just . . . wow.

Big Brown is a Big Favorite at the Preakness

Yes, we know horses don’t rant, engage in scadalous behavior, or date celebrities. But we heart horseracing! R.I.P. Eight Belles

No gossip or rumors or even snark here . . . just a tip of the hat to Eight Belles, the filly who came in second to the amazing Big Brown in the Kentucky Derby.
After crossing the finish line, Eight Belles collapsed with two broken ankles and was euthanized immediately.

What’s in a Name and Celebrity Hat Action at the Kentucky Derby

Ah, Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby. Boy do wish we were there, kitted out in a pretty chapeau and sipping a caipirinha. (To heck with mint juleps. We don’t like them, and we don’t care how “cairpirinha” translates).
If you want the dish on the Derby, b5 media’s Thoroughbred Fever will tell you all you need to know about placing your bets. We’re leaning toward Colonel John but wouldn’t be too surprised if Pyro made his way to the winner’s circle. Curious about how racehorses get their names? Yahoo! has a fun article explaining how the 20 horses set to run …read more
