Kevin Johnson faces runoff election in race for mayor of Sacramento

Former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson is in the process of seeking approval of a city he rivaled for several years. Johnson, who spent 12 seasons playing for the Phoenix Suns, is running for mayor of Sacramento. After receiving over 46% of the vote of the seven-candidate June election, Johnson now faces a runoff election with a two-term incumbent for the mayoral seat.

While we all were waiting for a certain former Phoenix Sun to run for governor of Alabama (oh, and he never will) another former Phoenix Sun announced he was running for mayor of Sacramento: Kevin Johnson. Also, it appears that this is a completely legitimate campaign. Congratulations, Kevin Johnson, you have Dejuiced’s endorsement.
The 42-year-old Johnson made the announcement at a news conference at the Guild Theater in Oak Park, the low-income Sacramento neighborhood where he grew up and where he has devoted himself to urban renewal projects after retiring from the NBA.
