Kim Clisters Wins 2009 U.S. Open

Kim Clijsters might have taken time away from tennis for two years but you wouldn’t know it from the way she played at the 2009 U.S. Open. Clijsters has become the first mom to win a major title since 1980.
After winning the U.S. Open in 2005, Clijsters decided to retire since she had been suffering from several injuries and started a family. Serena Williams Freaks Out at US Open

Defending U.S. Open champion, Serena Williams, will not be in the finals this year after losing to Kim Clijsters in the semifinals. As has been the case with many of her most recent battles, Williams seemed to just come unglued out on the court.
Things actually got nasty after a line judge called her for a foot fault. Williams disagreed with the judge and then proceeded to basically freak out on him. Clijsters has baby girl
Kim Clijsters has popped out a baby girl and named her…Jada. It is too eerily close to Jaba the Hut for my liking. Let’s hope Kim’s Jada is a sight more appealing than Jaba the Hut is.
Jada was born in Belgium, was 51 centimeters long and weighed 3,035 grams (I didn’t want to do the conversions for all my fellow non-metric users…).
The best part of the rather mundane and painfully written release about Clijster’s kid though was this line:
“Father, American basketball player Brian Lynch, is reported doing fine.”
