Brown stepped up the 2009 NBA playoffs and made significant contributions off the bench while Morrison continued to ride the pine.

Phil Jackson certainly had confidence in Brown’s play. And the Lakers‘ owner took notice. As a result, Brown will receive a two-year, $4.2 million contract with the second season at his option. If he wants to build a permanent home in L.A., he’ll have the opportunity to do so. I’m sure he’s sick of bouncing from team to team. And settling in with the NBA Champs shouldn’t be too hard.

Shannon Brown Finds A Home In L.A.

But now that the NBA season is over we’ll move onto baseball. So let’s see, what’s been happening there lately.

1.  Willie Randolph was fired the other day as manager of the NY Mets. And his replacement, Jerry Manuel, lost his debut. Just another day in the Mets clubhouse.

2.  The NY Yankees are now in 3rd place in the American League East and 5 1/2 games back of Boston.

3.  The Cincinnati Reds are still in last place in the National League Central and 12 1/2 games back. Good news though! Not the only team to suck in Ohio. They’re only a 1/2 game back from Cleveland.

4.  The Chicago Cubs have the best record in baseball. Can they keep this up?

5.  Prince Fielder is having issues with the IRS. Don’t forget to pay your taxes people.

So again, congratulations to the Celtics and let’s put the NBA to bed for now. Thank you NBA for an interesting exciting season we had here. And thank you Michelle Tafoya for not giving up.

It’s Over! What To Do Now?

Sunday night the Lakers prolonged the Finals by beating the Celtics 103-98. The above video features Kobe and the rest trying to do what they can to get it back to Boston. Speaking of Boston, Perkins was injured on the bench. Resting. They say he is questionable for game 6. Oh well. Doubt Boston wanted to win that game anyway. No they didn’t throw the game but after what there fans have gone through, you win at home. What better than to win the championship in front of the home crowd? Or what better than for them to collapse and lose two home games to lose the championship? We’ll just have to wait and see.

And of course we can’t forget the airing of the “there can only be one” full split commercial. It was also aired during Game 4. Sorry no post on that one, was a little sick. Have decided to blame my sickness on that game. But anyway, the athletes we’ve only seen half of in this playoff season, we got to see all of them! Did you miss it. Click on the video below.

Previously On The NBA Finals…

Kobe Bryant looked a bit like Kobe Bryant here. Guess there’s no place like home. 36 points for him. And for his free throws? More than Game 2 at least. But what’s up with the misses? 11-18 won’t cut it every time.

Sasha Vujacic had 20 points. The Lakers starters, outside of Kobe, had a combined 22. Not the best move on their part. Yes they still won but they shouldn’t count on winning like this on Thursday.

Ray Allen, at least, was a shining moment for the Celtics. He had 25 points. Unfortunately Garnett (13) and Pierce (6) struggled most of the night from the field and Rondo had a little ankle issue. Let’s hope he’ll be ok for Thursday.

What to expect for the next game?

• Maybe Van Gundy will learn that Nick Lachey’s girlfriend is actually Vanessa Minillo and not Alyssa Milano.
• Different celebrities I’m sure will be in the Staples Center. All but Nicholson at least. He will be there till he has trouble viewing the Laker Girls.
• More “one of a kind humor” from the announcing team of Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and Mike Breen. Here’s hoping that this team gets shakin’ up next year. Nothing against them, well, everything against them. NOT A FAN. If someone does like this announcing team please let me know why. Maybe I’m being to hard on them when they talk about issues that do not pertain to the game while something interesting is happening during the game. Please just let me know. Once again, I’m curious.

Lakers 87 Boston 81

Leon Powe went crazy in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Being featured during the halftime show just wasn’t enough for him. He scored 21 points and was the star of the game. Sure that we didn’t miss any of it but if you need a refresher of his Poweness, view the video.

I just have one questing for the Lakers. WTF were you doing during that last highlight? Standing around while Powe just waltzes to the rim? Where you in awe? Just wondering.

Leon Powe! Really?

Well, maybe not a conspiracy. But think about it. Who really wants to see the Spurs back in the NBA Finals? I personally don’t care, I’ll watch it anyway, but David Stern would not be happy. After this intriguing NBA season, everyone would love to see a Lakers vs. Celtics Final. But would it really be bad to see the Spurs vs. the Pistons?

Everyone woke up this morning thinking about that “no-call’ at the end of Game 4 in the Western Conference Finals. You didn’t? Liar. Speaking of…Kobe said it wasn’t a foul. So did Derek Fisher. Even Gregg Popovich agreed with them. And I’m sure David Stern found the “no-call” fitting. Just gets him one step closer to his dream.

And look who was the ref. The San Antonio Spurs dear friend Joey Crawford. Remember last year when Joey Crawford was PMSing and gave Tim Duncan 2 technical fouls which resulted in Joey getting suspended for the rest of the season and the playoffs? Well, maybe there were stipulations to him coming back this year. Making sure the Spurs don’t get to the Finals. No?

Now let’s just wait to see what happens in tonight’s game. It’s Game 5 in the Eastern Conference Finals people. Start the drinking games. How many calls can the Boston Celtics get that they don’t deserve?
