Lance Berkman, arguably the best hitter on the team, will be placed on the disabled list due to a calf strain on his left leg.

Edwin Maysonet replaced Berkman on the Astros roster. Maysonet has one homer, seven RBIs and seven runs in 54 at-bats this season.

After starting off the season slowly, the Astros are now just one-game back in the NL Central. At 49-46, they are tied with the Chicago Cubs and trailing the St. Louis Cardinals.

For me, one of my New Year’s Resolutions has absolutely nothing to do with college basketball. It has to do with my true love – baseball.

With the start of a new year, many people make New Year’s Resolutions – things they want to do, things they want to stop doing, places they want to go, people they want to meet, and so forth.

For me, one of my New Year’s Resolutions has absolutely nothing to do with college basketball. It has to do with my true love – baseball.

I have been a huge fan of the Houston Astros for years. I love their old yellow, orange and red striped jerseys (I have a mug with their old logo sitting in front of me on my desk). Nolan Ryan. J.R. Richard. Jose Cruz. Mike Scott. Dickie Thon. Cesar Cedeno. Glenn Davis. Jeff Bagwell. Craig Biggio. Those were my boys.

Lance Berkman. Roy Oswalt. Ty Wiggington. Miguel Tejada. Carlos Lee. They are my boys.

And now, one of the Astros’ young stars – Hunter Pence – has signed on to write a baseball blog for us at the b5media Sports Channel – Insidetheballpark.com

That’s right – Hunter Pence. The same Hunter Pence that took the National League by storm last season, hitting .322 with 17 home runs, 69 RBIs, 30 doubles, 9 triples and 11 stolen bases.

As a baseball fanatic and Houston Astros fan, I have one New Year’s Resolution – to read Hunter’s blog every single day.

And I hope you’ll do the same.

Let’s play ball!!!
