Laptop Screen Breaks

I am reading this article where the author answers the question of what the user should do when his laptop screen breaks?

He says that when the user starts his computer and hears some mechanical sound, make sure you turn if off because it could be your hard disk destroying data. In case there is no sound, it is likely that the hard drive is good and the monitor is the only one affected. If you don’t see anything on the screen, try plugging the laptop to any monitor and see if it works.
