Nas Honors Mike Tyson With Track on New Mixtape

This week hip-hop fans by the legion have downloaded, bought, or found a copy Nas‘ new mixtape, The N—– Tape which is mixed by DJ Green Lantern. The tape includes a fast-paced banger produced by Salaam Remi called “Legendary (Mike Tyson)” which also is featured in the new Mike Tyson documentary which premiered a few months ago at Cannes.
It’s hard to explain to Mike Tyson cynics how my generation could ever love the man with all his tragic flaws, unfulfilled promise, and descent into a sad carnival act. Nas tries to answer these questions in his song.

A Visit to the Boxing Hall of Fame

It’s Induction Week at the International Boxing Hall of Fame and that means boxing’s luminaries will be descending upon the tiny central New York State hamlet of Canastota, population 4,425. Thankfully, a former athlete stepped up the the plate and we won’t have to see Jose pummeled by Vinnie from south Philly.
That athlete is none other than former Eagle punt return and special teams wizard Vai Sikahema. Sikahema is currently employed at sports director at Philadelphia’s NBC affiliate WCAU. Vai is no stranger to the celebrity boxing circuit. In January of …read more

Pryor and Hearns Fight Tonight

Image details: Ronald Hearns v Robert Kamya served by picapp.com

That’s a headline bound to make any fight fan drool. Aaron “The Hawk” Pryor versus Thomas “Hitman” Hearns. Sadly, a professional rematch of Pryor’s 1976 light welterweight Golden Gloves victory over Hearns never happened. That’s not to say we won’t see those two last names on a title fight marquee sometime in the future.
Tonight at the San Manuel Casino in Highland, Calif. the scions of those two greats, Aaron Pryor, Jr. and Ronald “The Chosen One” Hearns, continue their path to boxing stardom. Interestingly, the two 29-year-olds have taken strikingly similar …read more
