Earlier today, I reported on a story involving UCLA’s coaches and their salaries. Both head football coach Rick Neuheisel and the school’s basketball coach have volunteered to reduce their salaries to help relieve the state and school budget. Like many major college football coaches, Neuheisel makes over a million, plus gets bonuses for doing well.
But there are many coaches who make even more. It’s no surprise that USC’s Pete Carrol tops the list, making a base salary of $4.4 million. Here’s the rest of the top ten:

Charlie Weis, Notre Dame, $4.2 million
Nick Saban, Alabama, $3.9 million

Smart move. SMART. Since taklking about it early this week, I’ve thought a lot about the pros and cons for Miles to leave to coach the Wolverines. And you know what? I think staying at LSU will be the best move of his career. I love Michigan (well, love them like one Big Ten team fan loves another …read more

Athletic director Bill Martin has officially requested permission to talk to Miles about the opportunity, which has been granted on one condition – that they wait until after the SEC championship game against Tennessee on Saturday.
Miles attended school and played at Michigan under the legendary Bo Schembechler, and it’s been no secret that Michigan is interested. Is Miles? Probably. He has done a great job dancing around questions about the position, but he hasn’t denied …read more
