With New Years upon us in North America in just a few ours, news from the HD section is coming out, so let’s start with LG.Philips’ announcement. They have already made some pre-CES announcements on five new panels, all of which are pretty nice. So let’s get the details down from small(er) panels to large:

• 42″ Transflective LCD with 1,500cd/m2 brightness rating
• 47″ Double-sided LCD at 70mm thick with a 500cd/m2 brightness with the ability to display on both sides (wow…)
• 47″ Triple-view LCD at 1080p, 250cd/m2 brightness and can show three separate sources (ooh…)
• 52″ Multi-touch LCD at 1080p and can recognize two touches, similar to the iPhone
• 84″ Multi-touch LCD with a 2×4 layout of 42″ panels at 1080p and 500cd/m2 brightness (can you reach that far?)

This is only the tip of the iceberg to CES announcements so these panels will be one to keep an eye on for sure. EngadgetHD
