Poverty and the Global Financial Crisis
reposted from aizadgreat.com
I just started with my new work last Monday and admittedly it was a big huge culture shock for me. The company where I’m at now is uber conservative and formal as compared to the wild and crazy atmosphere where I came from.
But what struck me most is the almost personal way that the big bosses relate to all their employees, even with the rank and file. Like how timely that one of the bosses sent an email to everybody about the present global financial crisis and how we can deal about it as an individual.
I’m not going to post everything here since …read more
Video Game Addict Test
While surfing for good material to write, I chanced upon this test from a co-worker’s site. The results were hilarious. I think.
Social Networks See Potential of Games
Gaming used to be more of the social activity before the advent of video games. Then a few years ago, gaming moguls (the console makers) realized the importance of having gamers hook up with fellow gamers, either via connection cables and now through the internet.
But ask any casual gamer where’s a nice place to meet up and play with just about anybody of your choice. Where else but on social networking sites.
Girl Gamer Shirts
A while back, I tagged of all the bloggers in the games channel. The best thing I loved reading about their answers was their ideal gamer shirt design. I still can’t get over it. I wanted to get myself gamer shirts (since I had none) but I can’t seem to find them in our tropical little island. Here are some of my favorites:
Not Sure What Kind of Gamer You Are?
As spotted at the new Level Up Games site, GM Tristan took the Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology, to determine what kind of gamer he is. So if you’re not sure if you’re leaning towards being hardcore or casual or a little of both, try out the quiz and see for yourself.
View my results after the jump.
Acting Out Gaming
I rarely come across TV shows that I like to be crazy enough to download a whole season’s worth of episode. I did that with newcomer The Big Bang Theory and now with Gossip Girl. (Chuck’s up next) There’s just so much buzz about these shows that made me want to watch them all. (Much to the chagrin of the husband, heehee)
So there I was, watching the 8th episode of Gossip Girl when a couple of the female characters challenged the other for a round of Guitar Hero. I was thrilled until I actually watched them play. …read more
Games Improve Productivity
Now here’s one article that’s right up my alley. *grin*
PopCap recently published a press release showing that banning internet personal use can actually cost around $7.5 billion in business money. Gasp! It also states that casual gaming in the workplace has a positive effect on the work environment.
How do you say?
New Term: Chick Games!
Now that the industry seems to see a goldmine out of a whole new demographic of gamers, news keeps on popping all over about how publishers and developers are targeting women for their upcoming titles. I just mentioned about it previously but it seems like there’s more where they came from.
Chick Games, just like Chick Flick, are games specifically designed for women gamers. If you haven’t heard of it, well is because its a self made term. Heehee.
Check out these Chick Game news from the past week:
What do you mean, “No Casual Gaming”??!!!
*tapping fingers and raising an eyebrow*
According to Laurent Fischer, managing director of marketing and PR at Nintendo of Europe, the concept of casual gaming is just plain absurd. He told CasualGaming.biz that its either you’re a gamer or not. Well, that’s true. But as to what TYPE of gamer, that’s where casual gaming comes in.
For years, gaming has been divided into two types of gamers, casual and core. The only difference is that core gaming is something you play for days at a time. While casual gamers can just pickup the game, play it for minutes or hours …read more
