Blogging has been essential in building links for when you write a blog entry, you actually insert links back to your site. Your blog entry’s content would surely have organic content which is going to help your site rank better.

Anyhow, while browsing the net, I came across a list of things that one should stay away from when blogging and when optimizing your site:

Buying traffic

Posting paid links for PR gain

Duplicate content

Black-Hat SEO techniques

Blog farms

Excessive links with no content

Post links without being embedded in content

Now if you have such an attitude, you may be wasting on the chance to improve your site’s traffic. See, studies in the industry have said that leaving comments on other sites helps drive traffic back to your site. The reason behind this is that when you leave a comment, you are asked to leave your name and a link back to your site. When other readers going through the comments page find your name or your comment interesting, the chances of that reader clicking on the link back to your site is high.

Now that you know, better start leaving those comments. You’ll never know how much traffic it’s going to bring in.

How do you bring in more traffic to your site? If your site is too plain and too serious, you may not find readers visiting your site that often. Or they may not even be coming back.
So how do you let traffic enter your site? What do you do?

I have encountered various types of contests with blogs and I think that it is one of the easiest ways to get link backs.

Some contests would ask you to just leave a comment on their blog post. Some would ask you to write a blog post about something and then ask you to link back to their site. Just think of which technique would best work for you. If you have a really good prize to give away, the possibilities of having quite a number of interested folks are huge.

I was reading fireflyseo about some important SEO topics such as link buying. One sentence in the blog caught my attention. In the SES Organic Listings Forum which was a Q&A portion of the event, “It appears that a good portion of the panel and the audience are absolutly 100% still buying links”.

I’m not really surprised by this because I don’t think webmasters and SEOs would 100% stop buying links just because google says so. The overall tip was to “be careful where you buy your links”. Many still have doubts about Google’s link detection techniques. The general consensus was that a lot was done via human auditing and de-listing.

The primary reason why link buying won’t be stopped that easy is that, I don’t think the link buyer is affected. I mean, the worst case is that the links will not pass link juice but for the buyers website to be penalized, that is another story. Think about it for a second. If google will penalize the buyer’s website, then many can just “buy” a link and link it to their competitors and then report it to google for penalization.

The sellers are the ones being penalized which is why I believe, buyers with deep pockets won’t stop buying links. They just have to find a good seller which they think won’t be caught by google’s link detection algorithms and/or human auditors.

What it is, technically is selling link spots for about USD $0.70 cents per cookie and USD $1.25 for cupcakes. Maybe you should give it a try? Not only is there intrinsic link value, but it is also a thoughtful, unique way of remembering friends and family during the holidays.
