2009 NCAA Football Coach Salaries

Earlier today, I reported on a story involving UCLA’s coaches and their salaries. Both head football coach Rick Neuheisel and the school’s basketball coach have volunteered to reduce their salaries to help relieve the state and school budget. Like many major college football coaches, Neuheisel makes over a million, plus gets bonuses for doing well.
But there are many coaches who make even more. It’s no surprise that USC’s Pete Carrol tops the list, making a base salary of $4.4 million. Here’s the rest of the top ten:

Football Coaches to Tour Middle East

Last year, the NCAA sent a group of coaches to tour the Middle East, lifting the spirits of the troops who are overseas. This year, they’ve decided to repeat that successful trip, and the coaches traveling on this trip include:
Mack Brown, Texas
Jim Tressel, Ohio State
Troy Calhoun, Air Force
Jim Grobe, Wake Forest
Rick Neuheisel, UCLA
Houston Nutt, Mississippi
Tommy Tuberville, former Auburn coach, who also went last year (see picture)
The coaches will meet and greet American miltary personel in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. They’re scheduled to leave from McConnell Ar Force Base in Kansas on May 28, and will return home on …read more
University of Texas baseball coach booted from USC practice

It’s hard to believe this headline, but it’s true. University of Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido was kicked out of a closed USC football scrimmage on Tuesday. The scrimmage Garrido was spotted at was only meant to be seen by family members and boosters.
In the era of SpyGate, many coaches are now closing practices and scrimmages to the public in fear that someone will videotape something they don’t want others to see. USC does not play Texas this season, unless the two teams were to meet in a bowl game.
