Anderson is a center fielder who never really put it all together for the White Sox. He’s played parts of the last five seasons with the White Sox while showing minimal success at the plate. In fact, his .238 batting average this year was a career-best. He also has two homers, 13 RBIs and 25 runs on the season.

Considering that Anderson is still only 27 years old and scouts believe he has considerable natural skill, the Red Sox are gambling that he’ll be able to figure it all out at some point in the relatively near future.

As for the White Sox, they are adding a veteran in Kotsay who should be able to help right away. He began this year on the disabled list and never could get into a rhythm. He’s hitting just .257 with one homer and five RBIs in 74 at-bats. The 33-year-old has been in the bigs since 1997. For his career, he has 110 homers, 614 RBIs and 713 runs to go along with a .281 batting average and a .336 on-base percentage.

We inch ever so close to that month of September where many minor leaguers will get called up on 40-man rosters to get their “cup of coffee” in Major League Baseball. Some will stay, some will make only the month-long appearance, but it’s nice to get a preview of the future. But today, I wanted to give you some links from other sites, just to give you more great baseball stories and posts.

From Knuckle Curve, you can still tell the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees rivalry will no doubt stay strong long into the days of the new Yankee Stadium. Here’s a video of a fight that took place between rival fans.

InGameNow talks about how ridiculous the new Yankee Stadium tickets are going to be in 2009.

Bugs and Cranks talks about the new found staff ace of Carl Pavano for the New York Yankees. If only he had pitched like this his entire time in New York.

MLB.com shows us a funny video ad by the Colorado Rockies, starring Todd Helton as “The Toddfather.”

Sox Addict gives us a different look at the Mark Kotsay acquisition by the Boston Red Sox. In fact, it’s a view of Kotsay’s better half.
