All of this has led me to wonder if we are supposed to be headed towards the altar. She has talked about the possibility of wedding bells but admits that she is totally freaked out at the idea right now.

The divorce rate in this country is astounding. People seem to get married for the silliest reasons or without a whole lot of thought about the important stuff. I have seen many of my friends crash and burn with their wives. I’ve watched lives get torn apart because of cheating or financial issues.

Now I have to wonder if I really want to take the plunge. Ever. I don’t want to change things between myself and my girlfriend when they are so great now. I don’t want to risk making a decision because it seems like the next step we are supposed to take. I’m not sure that I even believe in “forever” when it comes to just one person.

So I have to wonder if I’m the only person out there that wishes there were a third option.

Should I Get Married? Ever?

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are now Mr. and Mrs. Football Player and Model. They said “I do” yesterday “in a small, private ceremony in Santa Monica, California on Thursday.”

These two have been rumored to have been engaged, and not, and engaged…. for several months now. Thank heavens we won’t have to speculate anymore.

After the ceremony they headed home with their guests.

Low key… just like them.

(You know I’m joking, right?)

Anyways, here is the church where they wed:

We at Gossip on Sports wish the twosome the very happiest of wedded bliss…. (and let’s hope this is the end of Tom Brady’s days as a scoundrel.)

 Mqdonna and Guy Ritchie show togetherness in NYC; no word as to whether Jeff Gordon’s advice helped their marriage.

The clip (linked) from TMZ.com shows that Gordon had little to say. His current wife, however, quipped that #24 knows all about divorce lawyers . . .

Manning proposed last March in Hoboken, NJ, which raises the question, “Why would a guy ask for his honey’s hand in marriage in Hoboken?” . . . a worthy query that has yet to be answered.

But we digress, because we have another important question. What was the minister getting at when he observed that Eli’s hands are “quite large“? (Yes, we assume he’s implying their usefulness regarding footballs, but humor us, OK?)

No word on whether Double Stuff Oreos were served at the reception or whether brother Peyton challenged the new groom to a cookie face-off.

Minister Comments on Eli Manning’s Big Hands at Wedding Ceremony

Yet when devoted reader Pat sent it our way this morning, we cast off our aversion to the Post’s lovey-dovey nickname for the sake of blog foddah. The sacrifices we make. Sigh.

The New York paper reports that the New York Giants QB and former box seat pariah Abby McGrew pulled a Beyonce and Jay-Z by snatching up a marriage license last week in New York. It’s all very hush-hush, apparently, with word coming that the vow exchange will take place in late April.

Now, as if the “Super Eli” nonsense isn’t enough, check out this from another enamored sports writer:

Four months ago he was generally thought of as the over-hyped little brother who was turning out to be a disappointment as the first pick in the draft. Now he’s a star on the field, and it sounds as though his off-field life is going well, too. Congratulations, Eli.

WTF? First of all, he’s STILL overrated, but you can now add “incredibly lucky” to the string of adjectives. And while we wish (most) people good things off the field, would Tony Romo or Tom Brady get this kind of back-slapping?

What is this perpetual lovefest between the media and the Mannings?

It must have been the Double-Stuff Oreo commercial that sealed their otherwise inexplicable pop culture destiny as “beloved” NFL icons.
