Marvel Comics Extends Brand Online

In an effort to add revenue to its shrinking comic book business, Marvel Entertainment (NYSE: MVL) will add an online element to its marketing mix by launching a website (The Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited) that will ultimately give users access to 2,500 comics.
Initially, 250 comic books will be available for free on the Marvel website to gain an audience, and 20 additional new and vintage books will be added each week. Eventually, Marvel will charge subscription fees of $4.99 per month for a one-year subscription or $9.99 per month for people who don’t want to commit to a one-year subscription.
