Perhaps the biggest opponent for the Colts though is battling their own challenges with injured players.
Perhaps the biggest opponent for the Colts though is battling their own challenges with injured players. Many people really wondered about the Colts this season with a new head coach in Jim Caldwell and the release of Marvin Harrison from the receiver squad. The bigger challenge though has been injured players. With so many new and young players in the lineup I’m very impressed and proud of my Colts.

Here’s the latest injury report:

Marlin Jackson (Cornerback) – out for season

Bob Sanders (Strong Safety) – out for season

Kelvin Hayden (Cornerback) – 3-4 weeks

Anthony Gonzalez (Receiver) – ???

Pierre Garcon (Wide Receiver) – game time decision

Fili Moala (Defensive Tackle) – game time decision

Tyjuan Hagler (Linebacker) – out for season

Adam Vinatieri (Kicker) – ???

What I love about the Colts this season is that everyone has stepped up and played their role when they’ve needed them. With players out, other players have moved in and performed well. We need to keep that effort and intensity and work through this.

I love Bob Sanders as a player, but his unavailability from season-to-season is really making me question the money we’re putting into him. When he’s on the field, he’s a force to be reckoned with, it’s just too bad he’s been off the field more than he’s been on it.

Marvin Harrison has once again been accused of shooting Dwight Dixon. Dixon sued Harrison last year after being shot outside his detail shop in North Philadelphia. However, Harrison was never charged with that shooting.

Now, Dixon is saying Harrison probably shot him, or arranged for someone to do this, after he was shot seven times yesterday. Dixon said he had a dispute with Harrison and that he believed “Marvin Harrison probably hired someone to do this.”

The thing that strikes me about this story is that, if you believed someone shot you once, would you have any contact with them again? It appears that Dixon must have had some sort of contact with Harrison in order to have a dispute with him.

Dixon got himself in trouble last year by giving a couple different accounts of what happened during the shooting and was thus charged with making a false report. He was given six months probation for that offense.

That said, there are some Baltimore Ravens rumors swirling that the team could be looking to add a high profile wide receiver? Who could that be? Here are some options:

Anquan Boldin
When considering everything, Boldin makes a huge amount of sense for the Ravens. He’s a great receiver and has the type of mentality that should thrive in John Harbaugh’s system.

Brandon Marshall
Although his talent is comparable to Boldin’s talent, there are a lot more character red flags with Marshall. Could he survive Harbaugh?

Plaxico Burress
Burress is a long shot due to his legal trouble — plus the fact that he may be suspended for the entire 2009 season. But on talent alone, Burress is still elite.

Marvin Harrison
Still looking for a team, this future Hall of Famer could help out the Ravens right away. The question is how much gas does Harrison still have in his NFL tank.

While this rumor sounds like a longshot, Jerry Jones is known to make surprise moves. Signing the future Hall of Fame wide receiver would definitely be a surprise.

Harrison is coming off of a season in which he didn’t perform up to his normal standards. He finished the campaign with 60 receptions with 636 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Considering that Harrison will be 37 years old by the start of the 2009 NFL season, it’s questionable if he has much left in the tank. If the Cowboys do sign him, Harrison would probably start opposite of Roy Williams and ahead of Miles Austin.

All in all, this rumor isn’t as strong as the Marvin Harrison to the Vikings rumors we heard earlier in the week.

According to numerous internet rumors, Marvin Harrison could soon join the Minnesota Vikings. The future Hall of Fame wide receiver who has spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts would likely sign a one-year contract with the Vikings.
Right now, Minnesota doesn’t have much of a wide receiving corps. If Brett Favre returns, he’d likely want more targets. Even though Harrison is 36 years old and definitely past his prime, he’d likely be an improvement over some of the options already on the Vikings.

The Colts are expected to let him sign elsewhere and go with a wide receiving corps that features Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez as starters.

It’ll be interesting to see if Harrison’s signing is dependent on the Vikings signing Favre. If not, can Harrison be effective with someone like Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback?

Last year, the wideout out of Ohio State had 664 yards on 57 matches. He had four touchdowns and a long reception of 58 yards.

Although he doesn’t have blazing speeding, Gonzalez is good hands, runs good routes and is tough once he catches the ball. With team sure to load up on Reggie Wayne this year, there’s no doubt that Peyton Manning will rely on Gonzalez carrying his weight.

Harrison hasn’t been arrested or charged but the smoking gun is in his hands, or at least in a pail at the car wash he owns. Huh? Well, ballistics analysis showed that the firearm involved was a custom-made Belgian weapon—like the one Harrison owns. The wide receiver claimed the gun never left his home.
Apparently, this gun isn’t totally upfront with Harrison concerning its whereabouts or else it wouldn’t [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Harrison hasn’t been arrested or charged but the smoking gun is in his hands, or at least in a pail at the car wash he owns. Huh? Well, ballistics analysis showed that the firearm involved was a custom-made Belgian weapon—like the one Harrison owns. The wide receiver claimed the gun never left his home.

Apparently, this gun isn’t totally upfront with Harrison concerning its whereabouts or else it wouldn’t have been found in a car wash bucket.

Stay tuned as this is a story very much in progress. (Thumbs up to devoted reader Caesar for sending this along).

On a lighter note: Is it just us, or is there something kind of funny about being interviewed by the police at a car wash? Are car washes inherently funny? Or are we just forever biased in favor of car wash humor thanks to this (actual) video (48s)?
