Is There a John Daly Film in the Works?

According to the man himself, there may just be a film based on Daly’s life on the way. That movie would be based on a book that Daly plans on writing himself. Pretty ambitious for a guy who lost 115 lbs. The question though is–would you go see a movie about John Daly? If it’s half as entertaining as the (former) big man’s real life, count me in.

Daly has some fairly interesting ideas as to who would play him before and after his lap-band surgery.

“I just saw Matt Damon, how he swung a golf club, and I thought if I ever made a movie, I want him to be me,” Daly said. “The tough part is who would play me at 290 pounds. Now Kevin James, he’s my bud, but he’d be good.”

I’m not 100% sure, but I think Daly was joking about the Matt Damon part of that quote. At least he should be joking. Kevin James, on the other hand, would be a perfect choice to play the rotund version of John Daly.

Finally, I never thought that John Daly would be the voice of reason on any subject, but it seems he’s on the money as far as criticism of Tiger Woods by fellow players goes.

“I’m not too happy with what some of the players have said,” Daly said. “Without him our tour would not survive as what it is when Tiger plays. I just hope for him and [wife] Elin that they get through it.”

Matt Damon packed on 30lbs for his role in The Informant and from the early reviews, it sounds like it was worth it. The film hits theatres today and really resembles Erin Brokovich in a number of ways. The plot is based on the true story of bipolar whistleblower, Mark Whitacre (Damon), who believes he will become a hero when he turns in his company’s multi-national price-fixing conspiracy.

He begins working with the FBI but he begins to believe that his level of importance is greater than it actually is and the agents are left wondering about how much of what Whitacre is telling them is truth and how much is the result of an overactive imagination.

Like Erin Brokovich, the movie features an underdog trying to take down a major corporation but Brokovich had legitimate complaints (and proof) where as Whitacre is a little questionable. The movie looks incredibly interesting to me! Are you going to see it?

Matt Damon Runs a Triathlon

There are three reasons we decided to do this post about Matt Damon participating in a Miami triathlon.

1. First, we like Matt Damon. We don’t like him-like him the way we like Roger Federer, Ralph Fiennes, Joaquin Phoenix, or that guy who plays Dennis from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But, we like him.

2. We like Miami. Going to South Beach rocks our little suburban central Massachusetts world.

3. We’re in a triathlon frame of mind because a) we hope to do one in 2009 and b) our friend, the same on who misunderstood the severity of the “horrible news” about Tom Brady, did a triathlon yesterday. (Sadly, not the Matt Damon one).
