On Friday, Hasselbeck practiced for the third straight day and reports indicate that he looked relatively healthy. As of now, the Seahawks are listing their starting quarterback as probable.
Is Seahawks head coach Jim Mora surprised that Hasselbeck has been able to recover from a broken rib so quickly?
“No, I’m not surprised,” said Mora. “Matt is a very tough man, physically and mentally.”

Is Seahawks head coach Jim Mora surprised that Hasselbeck has been able to recover from a broken rib so quickly?

“No, I’m not surprised,” said Mora. “Matt is a very tough man, physically and mentally.”

Before getting hurt, Hasselbeck had a strong start to the 2009 NFL season. In Week 1 against the St. Louis Rams, Hasselbeck passed for 279 yards and three touchdowns as the Seahawks won by a final score of 28-0.

If Hasselbeck can’t play, Seneca Wallace will once again start at quarterback against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. After their Week 1 win, the Seahawks have lost three in a row. Week 5 could be a pivotal week for the squad to prove they are good enough to make a run at the playoffs.

After just two weeks of action during the 2009 NFL season, there are already a number of injuries to talk about. Star players are dropping left and right. Here are some of the biggest names and their injury status for Week 3.
QB Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle Seahawks
Matt Hasselbeck is dealing with a rib injury and it doesn’t sound like he’ll play in Week 3. Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles sounds like he’ll be missing a second straight game with a similar injury.

RB Jamal Lewis, Cleveland Browns
Going up against the Baltimore Ravens, Jamal Lewis faced a difficult challenge. However, due to injury, Lewis won’t be playing. The struggling Browns will have to look elsewhere for production.

WR Antonio Bryant, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Last week, Antonio Bryant missed the game for the Bucs thanks to a knee bone bruise. This week, he’s listed as questionable. If you listen to the coaches, Bryant could play. That said, Bryant himself doesn’t sound as optimistic.

TE Desmond Clark, Chicago Bears
Yet another player with a rib injury is Desmond Clark of the Chicago Bears. He’s listed as doubtful and you can expect to see him on the sidelines during Week 3 of the 2009 NFL season.

BC was in a bit of a rebuilding stage at this time, with new coach Tom O’Brien at the helm.
