With their wins, each of the following fighters won some extra money at last Saturday night’s UFC 98 . A total of $240,000 ($60,000 each) was awarded for “Fight Of the Night”, Knockout Of The Night” and “Submission Of The Night”. Yves Lavigne should have got a bonus for “Despised Official Of The Night” as he was booed every time they announced his name.

UFC 98 Results: Last night’s UFC 98 PPV event was a good event in my opinion. Sometimes things were kind of slow, but that’s what happens when you have fighters trying to out-think the other and wait for them to make the first move. Through out the event they showed3 of the 5 preliminary fights to fill the time.
The first prelim fight they showed was Andre Gusmao vs.  Krzysztof Soszynski .  Krzysztof came out the winner in the first round with a TKO after a ref stoppage. Krzysztof actually knocked Gusmao out cold.

Before I get to the video, let me just say that today was the first time I saw the Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton fight and wow! Can you imagine if the refs in the UFC separated the fighters that often? Other than that it was a good fight. That last punch that Pacquiao threw had all his weight behind it and it landed square. Hatton took a good 5 minutes to totally come to. This “Grudge” match has been almost two years in the making, but both times it was suppose to happen one of the two fighters had some sort of injury. There is no hiding the fact that Matt Serra, the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter season 2, has some hatred of Matt Hughes. In fact they are both pretty open about their dislike for each other.  Check out Serra’s [first] video blog for UFC 98. Matt Serra is always an entertaining guy.
