Matt Stafford may not play

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
It is really kind of odd, but as a Lions fan that has watched both Matt Stafford and Daunte Culpepper very closely this year, it is very plain that right now as in the very next game, Daunte Culpepper is ready to lead this team to victory and Matt Stafford is not. The Squibster is not saying they will beat the Packers, just mentioning who looks ready.
No, the Squibster has not lost his mind. If you asked me personally and nobody has, it would be to start Matt Stafford …read more

Matt Stafford Leads Lions to Victory

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Yes, the title is correct. The Detroit Lions finally won a football game. Usually the season for football begins late in the season as the Lions fight for a high draft pick and then ends during draft day when they most likely take a wide receiver. This time it was different as the Detroit Lions did something positive on the field. This time it was winning a football game, something they have not done for 2 years.
Just to make it fun, the Detroit Lions took the game …read more

Brett Favre and Matt Stafford

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
What do you think Brett Favre was thinking when he looked over to Matt Stafford at the end of the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions football game?
Minnesota 27 Detroit 13
Brett had thrown touchdown 466 in his career to put him way out in front of Dan Marino of Dolphin fame for career touchdowns. Matt Stafford had thrown touchdown number 1 in his brief illustrious career with the Lions.
Life looks easier in Viking land.
During the game the Sears commercial came on where Sears has a deal where they look up the …read more

Detroit Lions consumed by blackhole

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
It took scientists 100’s of years to spot black holes and you can’t really spot one. Does that make sense? It really does, because they determine a black hole by the absence of light in the sky. The black hole swallows up all the light in front of it.
The Detroit Lions are viewed in marketing terms only by the absence of fans in the stadium, by absence of buyers of Lion’s paraphernalia, by the absence of high TV ratings. You can view the Lions by noticing that …read more

Matt Stafford can do the job

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Those of you that screamed for the Lions to draft a tackle, where are you now? If you watched even part of the game against the Saints, then you could see that Matt Stafford is going to be a great quarterback.
Will the Lions win a lot of games this year?
Well, the big surprise is that their offense is not going to be the biggest problem, rookie quarterback notwithstanding. The defense is so porous it is unbelievable. True, it was Drew Brees and he was on his game, but …read more

Matt Stafford will start for Lions

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Here is your chance to say, “Told you so”!
Yeah, you know who you are, you’re the one always crying about how bad your Lions are and that they do everything wrong. From the beginning you screamed the Lions should draft a tackle, as if one tackle would have made a difference and the Lions would go from 0 -16 to 9 – 7, because of a tackle.
The Squibster did not agree and will not agree even if Stafford lays an egg. This team needed a leader, not a tackle. …read more

Matt Stafford must start for the Lions

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Will Matt Stafford earn the starting job with the Detroit Lions?
He will for the Thursday night game. Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton are both injured and cannot play, so the Lions have signed two more quarterbacks.
The Lions on Tuesday signed two new quarterbacks — Brooks Bollinger and Kevin O’Connell — and now carry five on the roster. The addition of Bollinger and O’Connell was necessary to replace Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton, who missed Tuesday’s practice with injuries.
Culpepper has eight stitches in a foot he injured at his …read more

Matt Stafford one of many

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Drew Sharp is often the voice of doom in Detroit area sports and the Detroit Lions never fail to disappoint. Today Drew is harping on the quarterback battles going on in the state of Michigan. UofM’s Rich Rodriquez talks about starting 3 quarterbacks against Western Michigan and Drew sharply comments that starting 3 quarterbacks is coach speak for having none. Michigan State University has a QB battle going on between Keith Nichol and Kirk Cousins in spite of all the previous publicity claiming Nichol to be super quarterback.

Culpepper over Stafford, one man’s opinion

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The Lions played the Cleveland Browns and were destroyed. A lot of fans forget this was a 10 – 6 Browns team a couple of years ago and have pretty much upgraded their roster since then. A ton of things went wrong last year for the Browns to go 4 – 12. They are a good team. Nobody is saying great, but right now a good team is capable of blowing the Detroit Lions right off the field.
Now this is what the Squibster saw in that game. …read more

Matt Stafford named starter for Lions

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Coach Jim Schwartz is very careful about how he handles the egos on the Detroit Lions. You might think there should be no egos after losing all of their games last year, but this is a whole new roster. Looking down the roster of starters for the second exhibition game only yields 5 familiar starting faces to the Squibster.
Getting to the point here, Schwartz named Matt Stafford to begin the 2nd exhibition game, just as he named Daunte Culpepper to begin the first exhibition game.
Schwartz wants to keep his …read more
