Google Wave App Store and its potential

I have been working on digital collaboration for the last five years and I would continue on working on this field for the years to come. The main technology or platform I use is Microsoft SharePoint which is an enterprise class platform for developing applications across portals & collaboration, documents library, business process and workflows, etc.

The digital collaboration space is growing and the enterprise keeps on implementing and improving their collaboration capability across the whole organization. Google knows this as such they have released Google Wave technology to be able to complete in a vertical market. I have signed up …read more

Amazon on Relational Databases

Amazon has been at the forefront of cloud computing for the longest time and they have offered various cloud computing products like storage services & database services to the enterprise.

Another additional product on the Amazon web services is the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) which Amazon feels would help streamline processes of settings up, scaling and operating relational data over the internet.

Get Your Platform Updates for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008

I was just encountering a problem with my Windows 7 operating system wherein my DVD drive gets undetected every now and then depending on the kind of DVD I put. As such, I was searching online for solutions and updates but instead I found a recent update on the Windows Vista platform. That was frustrating because Windows Vista should already go away and Microsoft spend its time perfecting Windows 7 because as the user base grow then problems would start popping up as I am currently experiencing.

Anyways, it seems that even with the release of Windows 7, the platform update …read more

Advertising Embedded on the Operating System

Advertising was the safety net that Google had when they launched their search engine. Initially they wanted to have their search engine technology licensed to the enterprise and at the back of their mind advertising would be a contingency plan. As it turned out, advertising became their primary option turning billions of dollars in revenues.

Desktop applications on the other hand were purchased through licenses and advertisements downloaded from the net through desktop applications were deemed security issues that security firms like Symantec blocked through their anti-spyware or anti-adware programs.
Steve Jobs is on the other side of the bed as he …read more

Bitlocker in Windows 7 Ultimate Edition

I am very happy with my Windows 7 Ultimate edition and one of the key features is the Bitlocker technology. In summary, BitLocker Drive Encryption helps you protect all your files stored on the drive where Windows is installed and also on internal data drives on your computer. This works similar to EFS or the Encrypting File System but the EFS only encrypts individual files while the BitLocker technology encrypts the entire drive. As a user, you would not encounter problems while using your Windows 7 computer and you can go ahead on your normal operations. Unauthorized users are the …read more

Make Your Own Windows Home Server

I have always wanted to have a computer dedicated for file sharing since I have a number of external drives and my problem isn’t space but synching up all of them in one location. MaximumPC has a very good tutorial titled “How to Build a Kick-Ass Windows Home Server” whose purpose is simply to make a file server where you can synch up all your data in one location. This is just what I wanted.

The series is made up of around 10 sections starting with the description of what they are building, followed by the cost which runs to about …read more

Microsoft Replaces Works with Office 2010 Starter Edition

I was working on someone’s computer recently and came across Microsoft Works installed. I hadn’t seen it for awhile and honestly had forgotten it was still getting installed on systems from original equipment manufacturers (OEM).

The new version of the Office productivity suite will be available soon, although no final release date is yet available. When the new version is available versions of the suite will be replacing the Microsoft Works productivity applications that have been installed on people’s machines for years.
The new Starter version of Office will be coming to the forefront before the Office Web Apps that have …read more

Microsoft’s prototype mice

As further evidence of just how feared and respected Apple is in the electronics industry — their every product is scrutinized, studied at length, and its new ideas and design aesthetics copied by pretty much everyone else — Microsoft has secretly been at work on a whole bunch of new prototypes for a multitouch mouse. The folks at MS Labs are doing some wildly cool stuff, but are they merely reacting once again to Apple’s already-rumored efforts to release a multitouch mouse of their own?
Multitouch, in case you’re not familiar with the term, refers to gesture-based controls primarily used on …read more
