Don’t Forget! WEC 42 on Versus this Sunday

While the majority of the MMA world is eagerly awaiting UFC 101, there’s another fight event going on Sunday night that you may not have heard about: World Extreme Cagefighting 42.
What the hell is the WEC? It’s the UFC’s sister promotion, owned and operated by the same group of people. As for why Zuffa (the parent company of the UFC and WEC) owns two separate MMA promotions, the story is kinda amusing. Since SpikeTV has exclusive cable rights to live UFC events, so there was no way for the UFC to make a deal with the Versus channel. So …read more

WEC 40 Torres Vs Mizugaki Results. WEC 40 was on last night on Versus. There were some good fights and some early fight stoppages if you ask me. The first two fights were stopped a little too fast when it appeared that one of the fighters might be in trouble, even though they were defending themselves “Intelligently”.
Instead of Live-Blogging this last night I decided to sit back and enjoy it. It’s much better that trying to commentate it in text and watch at the same time.
Here are the official results for the main card.

Beyond The Mullet: Miguel Torres

Miguel Torres: Beyond The Mullet. Pound for pound Miguel Torres might be the best fighter in MMA. The WEC Bantamweight champion has successfully defended his title 3 times since winning it in his second fight in the WEC and has picked apart every opponent that has been put in front of him. Torres is 35-1 and 8 of those wins have been by knockout. His only loss was by decision back in 2003 to Ryan Ackerman during his IC promotion years.
Miguel Torres was set to fight the undefeated Brian Bowles, another great WEC fighters, but due to a back injury, …read more
Brian Bowles Out Of WEC 40 | Torres To Fight Takeya Mizugaki

Brian Bowles has been sidelined with a back injury before his bantamweight contender fight against current champ Miguel Torres. Though the training inflicted injury doesn’t seem to be too serious, he has to back out of his fight with Torres on April 5th.
WEC newcomer Takeya Mizugaki will make his WEC debut against the champion. I really don’t like the way the WEC does this type of thing. Aren’t there other contenders that Torres could fight instead of someone fresh in to the WEC? Same thing with Urijah Faber. Mike Brown’s first fight in the WEC and he wins the …read more

This past week I missed the fact that due to the Thanksgiving holiday, The Ultimate Fighter was not going to air. Instead, we saw replays of the last two episodes. You’ll have to wait until next week to see back to back episodes. December 3rd is also WEC 37 with Manny Tapia vs. Miguel Torres.
WEC 37 starts at 8 pm with 4 fights to air so it should be over by the time The Ultimate Fighter comes on at 10 pm on Spike TV. This Torres Vs. Tapia fight should be a great fight. Also Brian Bowles will be …read more
