Seattle Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell has resigned from the team. Now, many are speculating on his placement. Namely, will Mike Holmgren return? Ruskell had a five year contract with the team but is leaving several weeks before its conclusion, mainly because the team couldn’t commit to him.

I have to wonder about the timing of all this. I’m leery of mid-season replacements of any kind, especially one as significant as this. Will this move be a further distraction to the team? Will this move be a further distraction to the team? Furthermore, will Holmgren seriously be happy staying in a GM role? Or will he once again want to coach and the run the team?

One of the reasons Holmgren left Green Bay was because he wanted to be GM. Since Ron Wolff was not ready to step down, he left. That season Green Bay had numerous distractions and did not play well. Holmgren putting his sites on Seattle was a huge part of that distraction. But when Holmgren got the job as coach and GM, he couldn’t pull it off. I can’t help but to wonder what his future will be with the Seahawks, and more than that, if he’ll finally be content.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to football fans, but former Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren is apparently ready to go back to work. He says he is “open to the idea of coaching.” Shocking! (She said in jest.)

Holmgren is known to be a bit of a workaholic. That’s something I respected about him when he was the coach of “my team” (the Green Bay Packers) and something that frustrated me (when it wasn’t enough to be the coach of the Superbowl Champion Green Bay Packers). When he announced that he was taking a “sabbatical” last year, I figured it would only be a short time before he decided time off wasn’t his bag.

He says that “he has not thought through his emotions enough to know exactly what it is he wants to do. ” Apparently he was babysitting one of his grandkids while also watching the NFL draft. He was getting so involved in the picks teams were making that his wife finally reminded him that he wasn’t working.

My bet is that he will return to coaching. I can’t see him happy in an office somewhere, or even as a commentator. Coaching is in his blood. What do you think? Will he be back for another season?

Apparently, if you are the daughter of a NFL head football coach, that is grounds to be removed from a fantasy football league. That’s just what happened to Mike Holmgren’s daughter, Calla.
Holmgren, who is the head coach for the Seattle Seahawks, admitted that he didn’t know much about fantasy football. But, according to the story, his daughter does.
It’s hard to believe that someone would have that much “inside information” as the story is claiming to be kicked out of a league. I would boot an odds maker, bookie or player before I would boot someone that is [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

But, Holmgren’s daughter won’t be winning her league this year. That is, unless she decides to go onto Yahoo or ESPN.com or FoxSports.com and play where no one knows her real identity. Plus – who would believe her if she told them anyway?
