The 6-foot-3, 214-pound wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys had ten catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns. The receiving yards broke a franchise record and his performance apparently earned him more action going forward.

Said Wade Phillips, head coach of the Cowboys: “We’re going to get him on the field. His run after the catch is so strong that if you get him the football, he’s liable to make a big play.”

Austin started Week 5 due to Roy Williams missing the game with an injury. If Austin is going to see more action, who will see less action? Williams has a big contract and it’s unlikely he’d happily accept a bench role. That leaves the other starting wide receiver — Patrick Crayton. Crayton has been productive at times but Austin may have just leapfrogged him in the depth chart.

After a breakout campaign a year ago, Michael Turner had been relatively quiet to begin the 2009 NFL season. In Week 5, however, he was quite loud. Turner finished with 97 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

WR Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys
With out outing, Miles Austin just made himself a household name. Against the Chiefs, Austin had ten catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns. His final touchdown gave the Cowboys the win in overtime.

While this rumor sounds like a longshot, Jerry Jones is known to make surprise moves. Signing the future Hall of Fame wide receiver would definitely be a surprise.

While this rumor sounds like a longshot, Jerry Jones is known to make surprise moves. Signing the future Hall of Fame wide receiver would definitely be a surprise.

Harrison is coming off of a season in which he didn’t perform up to his normal standards. He finished the campaign with 60 receptions with 636 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Considering that Harrison will be 37 years old by the start of the 2009 NFL season, it’s questionable if he has much left in the tank. If the Cowboys do sign him, Harrison would probably start opposite of Roy Williams and ahead of Miles Austin.

All in all, this rumor isn’t as strong as the Marvin Harrison to the Vikings rumors we heard earlier in the week.
