She’s 17-years-old and I definitely wasn’t an angel at her age and I’m not expecting her to be either but this isn’t sexy – it’s skanky. With so many women feeling suppressed in their sexuality, I applaud her attempt to feel comfortable with her body but there is a way to do it and this just isn’t working for me. It comes off trashy to me and even a little awkward. Could it be that she’s just rebelling against her squeaky clean Disney image? That’s what happened to Britney Spears….

The best part is that this video is from her Royal Variety performance for the Queen of England. Classy… In case you care or don’t know, the song is “Party in the USA” from her Time of Our Lives album.

Derrick Rose quickly went from the NBA’s 2009 Rookie of the Year (and the Chicago Bulls’ savior) to the center of an NCAA investigation into allegations that he had someone take the SAT test for him so that he could play at Memphis.

Derrick Rose is currently at the center of NCAA investigation into his academic eligibilty at Memphis.

According to the Chicago-Sun Times, his high school grades were even altered to help him stay academically eligible.

The investigation has once again brought attention to the NBA’s age regulation rule, in which players have to be at least 19 years old in order to play professional basketball.

Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports, asks: “Why the heck did he have to take [the SAT test] in the first place?”

He makes a good point. Rose could have avoided this scandal altogether if he had simply been able to jump directly to the NBA from high school instead.

As Wetzel argues effectively:

“No one cared when Danica Patrick went pro as a race car driver at 16. No one tried to prevent Shawn Johnson from winning an Olympic gold at the same age or Miley Cyrus from making millions singing and acting with her dad even younger than that. And no one ever required them to recognize analogies before doing so. So why do we make Derrick Rose?”

Why, indeed.

At this year’s Grammy Awards, Disney pop star, Miley Cyrus, was turned away when she attempted to meet Radiohead backstage (Kanye West was also denied access). In the weeks that followed, Miley (and Kanye) spoke out about being snubbed by the British group and Miley went as far as to say that she was going to “ruin” them. I laughed it off because it is a truly ridiculous statement but she’s a teenager and let’s hope someone had the good sense to talk to her about what she said.

To be honest, I had pretty much pushed this lame story to the back of my mind until I started hearing about a tirade launched by Jamie Foxx on his Sirius radio show “The Foxxhole” this past Sunday night. When a caller mentioned the incident, Foxx sarcastically said “Who is Miley Cyrus” and then continued on an expletive-laced rant where he described her as the girl “with all the gums” and said “she’s going to ruin Radiohead’s career? The same Radiohead that gets paid a million dollars just to sample their song? That Radiohead?”

He had some guests on the show who also called Cyrus names including “little white b*tch” and laughed at Foxx’s comments. Things really crossed the line when Foxx said that the Hannah Montana star should do drugs like Britney Spears, become a lesbian like Lindsay Lohan or make a sex tape and “grow up.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Foxx had one more revolting suggestion for Cyrus – “catch Chlamydia on a bicycle seat.” WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s so much worse when you listen to it. Check it out. I can’t believe I found the audio for this!

Do you think that he crossed the line? If he was addressing an adult, it would be incredibly rude but since he’s talking about a child, basically, I think that this is crass and cruel. I don’t care how bad my kid is, if I heard someone suggesting they do drugs, make a sex tape and catch a venereal disease, I would be FURIOUS.

So this post will take a little bit different angle than the last few. See this one is about information. Not the kind like where the latest and greatest porn site is or where Miley Cyrus has shown her booty today… This is the kind of information that can help you in your everyday life. Sites like ReadBurner, Alltop and Technorati are trying their hardest to help you find this information and they’re doing a damn good job at it so far.

ReadBurner is a site that deals with RSS feeds. RSS is a great way of keeping up-to-date on almost any website. Any website that’s worth their weight in hosting dollars has an RSS feed to follow. The guys at ReadBurner try to keep the news and information fresh by pulling in RSS feeds from people that share their most loved articles in Google Reader and Netvibes. This means that you can always find out what your friends (all right, you might not even know or like them) or enemies are reading and keeping up with today.

Technorati on the other hand scours the interwebs for the latest and greatest blog posts. They rank both the posts and the blogs that they were posted on to help you find out who is an “authority” in the area that you want to know more about. Different from ReadBurner, they do not limit where they get their information from. They simply wait for people to either ping them or they receive content from links of other blogs. Using a patented (maybe?) system, they keep track of what’s hot and what’s not.

Alltop has taken an even different approach from the first two that I’ve talked about. They take what they consider the most important and special (that apparently includes yours truly) blogs or RSS feeds on the internet and list them in a very simple, easy to browse form. From art to geekery, they have almost any category of information that you might be looking for. In addition to listing the information out, Alltop allows any user to modify what they see on the screen. Don’t want to see that blog on motherhood and sex, just click the little X and it’s gone (at least until you clear your cookies).

It doesn’t matter what way you choose to get your information, just choose to get it. Using the services listed above or any other methods, keep up to date on the news that matters. It will make your life and work that much easier.

P.S. – Come find us and more on Alltop at http://humor.alltop.com or http://oddities.alltop.com. Are they trying to call us odd?
