Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist (in beach volleyball) Misty May-Treanor injured her Achilles tendon on Friday when training for the ABC show, “Dancing with the Stars.” The 31-year-old champion will undergo surgery today to repair the injury. She and dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy have withdrawn from the competition. Too bad for Treanor, who was doing well on the show. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Our Olympic pair did pretty well last night on the second week of “Dancing with the Stars.” Misty May-Treanor with her dance partner Maksim did a very respectable and dramatic paso doble, all dressed in black leather. You can watch their routine below:
The other Olympian competing on the show, Maurice Greene was a little less polished, but he should be safe through at least this week’s elimination. Greene and his dance partner, Cheryl Burke danced the rumba. He was a little jerky and seemed to be leering at Cheryl much of the time. Best to keep your mind on the …read more

The two Olympians, Misty May-Treanor and Maurice Greene did very well on the second night of competition on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” last night and both survived the first elimination. Maurice looked smooth dancing a disco-style mambo and Misty shook “what her mama gave her.” Take a look:

Season seven on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” debuted last night. Our two Olympians started solidly. Maurice Greene needs to refine his moves a little to look good in the ballroom. Misty May-Treanor looked amazingly poised on the dance floor for her first effort, but needs to work on looking graceful instead of like the powerful athlete she is. Still, a great effort by the Olympians. Below are the clips of their dances:
“Dancing with the Stars” continues today at 9pm with another dance from each contestant (except the low scorer from night one). Another contestant will be eliminated …read more

The crowds have gone home; the athletes, journalists, and dignataries have boarded flights for cities all over the world; the scores of volunteers have turned the Bird’s Nest back into an empty stadium; and the torch has been handed over to the British. In other words, the Games of the XXIX Olympiad are now history. It’s time to get some sleep.
International Olympic Committee President, Jacques Rogges said on Sunday that his favorite Olympic moment was that of Matthew Emmons, the American shooting contender who blew a chance at the Gold Medal in Athens by shooting the wrong target in the …read more

The unbeatable team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh continued their reign as the world’s best beach volleyball duo, beating the Chinese pair of Wang Jie and Tian Jia in straight sets Wednesday to win the Gold Medal. They are the first pair to win two Gold Medals in Beach Volleyball and the first to go undefeated in two Olympic competitions.
In the sometimes pouring rain, the Chinese did make the match interesting. They were one of the few teams to challenge May/Walsh in the tournament, even leading the Americans for a few points.
