Saint Seiya Online, Old Anime Hot In China

For anime and manga lovers who are old enough to remember Saint Seiya or Knights of the Zodiac, they should be glad that a MMORPG centered around Saint Seiya called Saint Seiya Online will be released by Sega this year.

In China, the online game was named 圣斗士OL and is already in beta. From the prizes (from PSP to MP3 players) that the Chinese players can get during this beta testing period, we reckon that Saint Seiya Online will attract new fans who have no idea who is Athena or Masami Kurumada.

LianYu Online, Blood Sucking China MMORPG

With the Twilight phenomenon sweeping across the globe, we can see vampires appear almost anywhere around the world. It is not a surprise that the class of vampires is introduced in a new China’s MMORPG called Lianyu Online (炼狱OL), loosely translated to Purgatory Online.

Players got to choose from classes such as vampires, fallen angels, elves, fighters and more. Just like World of Warcraft, quests, roleplay and PvP elements are evident in Lianyu Online.
I wonder if the vampires possess money-sucking blood-sucking ability.

3Feel Feeling Into Hong Kong, Name Changed

The first adult MMO, 3Feel or 3Feel Online, developed by Korea’s CMNet is heading its way into Hong Kong but not mainland China as is a no-no for such heavy adult-oriented game in the big country. Due to localization, the original 3Feel name has been changed to OL Seduction where OL means office lady (maybe 3Feel doesn’t appeal to Chinese audience).

Simplified and traditional Chinese interface are available with Cantonese and Chinese voice-over by famous voice actors and actresses. The game also supports USB functionality (you can add gadgets) to give players the authentic experience.

Dead Frontier, Online Zombies MMO

Zombies are always being used as shooting, slashing or abusing targets (or inspiration), whether in Resident Evil series or in some B-grade movies. It is not a surprise that an online MMO game is linked with zombies now.

The online browser game called Dead Frontier shoots zombies as the stars of the game. Developed by Jagged Blade Games (a one-man games studio), one can just play the game on any browser without the need of downloading additional software.
Dead Frontier combines 3rd person survival horror action with more traditional role-playing elements to create a totally unique MMO experience. Players will need to …read more

Runes of Magic Screens

If you haven’t noticed, I’m a pretty big fan of screenshots. I’m a very visual person and while it’s great to read about a game, I’d much rather see what the game has to offer either with screenshots or with gameplay videos.
So there’s the reason I post so many screens…and they’re purty. Mainly cause they’re purty.

Richard Garriott is taking off – leaves NCSoft

Well, some pretty shocking news hit the game-iverse yesterday: Richard Garriott, the brains behind the Ultima and Wing Commander series has called it quits with his employer, NCSoft. This is a pretty big deal for many Richard Garriott fans, as he was also the guy behind the futuristic MMO, Richard Garriot’s Tabula Rasa. The man’s name is in the title of the game! And he’s disconnecting himself from it!
That’s crazy talk right there!
In a news letter over at Tabula Rasa’s website, Richard Garriott, AKA General British, wrote an update to his fans explaining his gratitude to everyone, but it’s …read more

A Future for The Longest Journey franchise?

According to this article in Adventure Gamers, there might be a future for The Longest Journey/Dreamfall series. As you may or may not remember, Dreamfall left us at a bit of a cliffhanger… I hate cliffhangers. Especially in games.
Because you never know of those bastard like gaming companies will ever put out the next sequel. Bastards.
Bastards.
I have a lot of tension today, can you tell?
Okay, I don’t really. I just like saying “bastards”, because it’s a funny word.
