LeBron James chipped in with 25 points, 12 assists and five rebounds. Delonte West had 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Anderson Varejao had 15 points and nine rebounds while making all seven of his field goal attempts.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs with 27 points and nine rebounds. Jason Terry had 25 points off the bench. Defense was the problem for Dallas, as Cleveland scored 68 points in the first half.

Following the game, both teams had a record of 12-5.

Vince Carter was the lone bright spot for the Magic. He had 29 points and five rebounds in 35 minutes. Howard, who dominated the Cavs last year in the playoffs, was limited to just three field goal attempts on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

With the win, the Cavs improve to 5-3. The loss dropped the Magic to 6-3. The two teams play again on Feb. 11 in Cleveland.

While LeBron has recently been sick, that wasn’t the reason why he missed the game. Cleveland’s top three stars sat out due to this game being a back-to-back affair.

With the Orlando Magic holding a 3-1 advantage in the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron James needed to come up big to keep the Cleveland Cavaliers alive. On Thursday night, he did just that.
In 46 minutes, James scored 37 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 12 assists. He finished 11-for-24 from the field and 15-for-19 from the free throw line.
For once, the Chosen One actually got some help. Mo Williams had 24 points and hit 7-of-14 shots from the field, including 6-of-9 three-pointers. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 16 points, while Delonte West chipped in 13 points.

LeBron James was King James in Game 5 (Image: Newscom)

For once, the Chosen One actually got some help. Mo Williams had 24 points and hit 7-of-14 shots from the field, including 6-of-9 three-pointers. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 16 points, while Delonte West chipped in 13 points.

The Magic can’t be too disappointed in their play. Early on, they fell into a 22-point whole but they battled all the way back and even took control of the game in the third quarter. It took a heroic effort by James to extend the series to Game 6.

Dwight Howard was again a monster in the middle, totaling 24 points, ten rebounds and two assists despite fouling out in 37 minutes. Hedo Turkoglu led the Magic in scoring with 29, while Rashard Lewis scored 15.

Game 6 will be played in Orlando on Saturday. Considering that Game 7 is in Cleveland, the pressure shifts to the Magic to slam the door on King James and the Cavs.

There’s absolutely no way that Devin Harris should have made the All-Star team before Ray Allen. Allen is having a great shooting year despite not getting his usual amount of shots.

The 2009 All-Star Game reserves were recently named and the coaches got most of the selections right. However, there were three blatant mistakes made. Here are the three snubs along with the three players who should have been left off the All-Star team.

In: Ray Allen
Out: Devin Harris
There’s absolutely no way that Devin Harris should have made the All-Star team before Ray Allen. Allen is having a great shooting year despite not getting his usual amount of shots. Harris, on the other hand, gets tons of shots and tons of plays called for him on a bad team. You’d think the coaches would recognize the sacrifices Allen has made to make the Celtics a championship team while also recognizing that Harris is a product of his system.

In: Mo Williams
Out: Jameer Nelson
The Magic are having a good season but having three All-Stars is going overboard. As for the Cavs, they too are having a very good season but they have only one All-Star. The fair thing to do would be to swap in Mo Williams and swap out Jameer Nelson. That would give each team two players in the All-Star game … which would be more than fair.

In: Al Jefferson
Out: David West
The coaches simply got lazy with the selection of David West. He’s a great player but he’s not playing as well as last season. Al Jefferson, on the other hand, is playing as well as any forward in the Western Conference. He also has the T’Wolves playing great basketball while West remains a talented role player.
