Haven’t you ever wondered why you can’t completely control your mobile phone or other mobile device while it’s connected to your computer? I’ve always thought I should be able to open a window on my computer and see the screen of my mobile phone as it appears on my device.

I’ve always wanted to be able to open a window and use my mouse to act as the stylus pointer on my device. I’ve wanted to somehow open up my phone and make a phone call from my phone and hear the call through my speakers and microphone. Having a Logitech headset would allow me to make phone calls through my cell phone as easily as I do through Skype. The other big functional advantage would to allow the user to send SMS messages through their unlimited cell plans and manage them from their phone, but respond and reply through the ease of their full-size keyboard.

It looks like the answer may be here with Universal Mobile Solutions and their PDA Controller software.

PDA Controller lets you type comfortably from your desktop PC or laptop in two ways. First you can zoom the screen to twice it’s original size, secondly you can use the desktop keyboard so that you can type in quickly. This way you send off those quick e-mails or SMS messages without the annoyance of having to tap each letter at a time while squinting at the screen!

Yep, that sums it up for me. Sounds like exactly what I’ve been looking for in the solution. The other nice advantage is that the software works with a variety of devices, so if you change yours, you don’t have to worry about purchasing a different version of the software or adding a new feature just for your phone.

Get more information to download and purchase the PDA Controller software by visiting the Universal Mobile Solutions website.

A while back my brother gave me the heads up about a website called Radar.net. Today another twitter friend recommended the site to me. Normally I’m pretty good with peer pressure, but since two people asked me to check it out, I figure I will.

The basics of the site are a place and a service for you to share videos and photos with others whether it be on the Radar.net site, twitter, Facebook, flickr or your own blog. All the features you’d expect are here and then some.

I’ve normally been a fan of TwitPic to share photos on twitter, but since they’re still not taking advantage of the Oauth functionality, I haven’t been using them as much. I still haven’t gotten Facebook to allow me to post images from my phone yet for some reason either, so I’m hoping this service will kill these two birds (well, one bird and one face) with one stone.

Sign-up for an account on Radar, link your twitter, Facebook and flickr accounts and you’re ready to roll. You’ll get a private Radar email address to use to send images to when you want to share them. There’s also a mobile app you can download to make it even easier to send images from your phone while you’re on the go.

When you make an update to Radar, you can decide whether or not to include the update to your twitter or Facebook feeds as well. Very nice and very easy to get going on.

iPhone 3GS Helps AT&T generate its best sales day
According to AppleInsider’ story the iPhone 3GS helped AT&T achieve it’s best sales day ever. They even broke other records with the launch of the iPhone. Here’s an excerpt.
The leaked e-mail characterizes “iLaunch Day 2009,” its nickname for the June 19th iPhone 3GS release date, as the “best-ever sales day” and just second in terms of actual floor traffic.

Many of its other sales-related records were also shattered at the same time, ranging from the number of upgrade eligibility checks made in a day to the sheer volume of orders taken through AT&T’s website.

3GS smokes competition in OpenGL Benchmarks (via Extreme Tech)

The new Apple iPhone 3GS feels fast, but it’s always good to see your feelings confirmed with hard numbers. Laszlo Kishonti, creator of the JBenchmark benchmark suite that I use on all Java-based phones, managed to install his GLBenchmark OpenGL benchmark onto both an iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G (please, don’t ask how) and watched the new model smoke the competition on low-level tests.

With great power comes… great electricity.. iPhone 3GS users complain about battery life (via LA Times)

Buyers are finding that the device, introduced two weeks ago, has trouble making it through a workday without a rest stop at the electrical outlet. It’s proving to be something of an Achilles’ heel on Apple Inc.’s flagship device, more than 1 million of which were sold in the first weekend.

The iPhone 3GS is hot! I mean literaly (via TMCnet)

The first known public account of the problem originated in France where one 16GB 3GS user noticed that his phone was hot during use. Later, the owner discovered that the white backing on the device had turned pink-toned near the spot where the battery is stored, the report said.

So there you go, some iPhone stories to help you decide if you really want one or if you’ve gotten one already, see if it was a good decision.

A couple of days ago, the 3.0 version of the iPhone OS was made available. This upgrade brings a lot of the feature of the 3G S to the previous models of the iPhone. The most sought after feature of the new OS is the addition of copy/paste. Finally! Welcome additions as well are SMS forwarding, tethering, spotlight search, etc.

Sick of having to keep RSS feeds as bookmarks on the iPhone? Don’t like having to browse to a website to check your feeds? Ever wanted a native RSS reader on the iPhone/Touch?

Impressive for a pitch and its seems to be working, based on the recommendation of Jonathan McDonald.

As previously mentioned. The App is part of MobileStudio and it has several other Apps being developed or file manipulation programs aimed at making the “iPhone a usable computing platform on it’s own[Source]“.

I do not have an iPhone nor a Touch. And I thought this is useful information for iPhone and Touch owners.

Hmm. Has anyone tried this? Any feedback?
