Murali was greeted with eggs (I suspect they were rotten) upon his arrival in Australia.
This is rather disheartening that a player of Murali’s stature is getting this type of treatment. Oh, I don’t care what you think about this bent arm and bowling angle. You’ve got to respect people.
Reminds me of Pakistani team’s welcome at the airport, after their crushing defeat in the WC final of 1999.

I’ve decided to highlight a reader comment every week. Sometimes, our readers leave really intelligent comments.
Here’s a latest one from Hilal in response to the Murali video. Somehow it ended up in the spam queue, so you didn’t notice it probably.
Thank you for highlighting the video. It was uploaded by me. If you pay close attention to the video you will note that his wrists are what deliver the ball. Along with a massive thrust from his shoulders. Due to his congenital deformity his body has adapted. Hence the supple wrists and abnormal shoulder rotation. …read more
Murali in slow motion: Decide for yourself

Chucking is all over me. So here goes.
While this is not a substitute for 3-D analysis and we’re not biomechanics, 2000 frames/second is slow enough for our eyes to observe bowling actions from varying angles.
I don’t really know if this is 2000 frames/sec, but it’s slow enough.
I am not going to say that it’s okay, because we all have different opinions regarding what throwing action is, and different eye (specs) powers.
As far as I am concerned, I think he bowls pretty neatly for his hypermobile joints. What do you think?

Give him five more years, and this headline might be doing the rounds of newspapers one day.
Anyway, we knew this had to happen. The question was, when would it happen? Stand up boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, and let’s give Muttiah Muralitharan a big round of applause on his 709-wicket haul.
Shane Warne, one of Murali’s biggest sporting rivals and who’s record he’s just broken, had to say this about him in his autobiography:
I have got to know Murali better since the tsunami. In my time I don’t think one player has been as …read more

What is the Atapattu-Jayasurya duo praying? They are departing for their much hyped-up Australia tour. Go figure.

Check out this video of Muttiah Muralitharan getting run out against New Zealand. The dozy twonk leaves his crease to congratulate Kumar Sangakarre on scoring a hundred whilst the ball is still live. Brendan McCullen was well within his rights and the umpire was correct to give him the finger. Captain Mahela Jaywardene protested the decision, saying the dismissal was not within the spirit of the game, but Stephen Fleming retorted saying that had the ball gone for overthrows then the Sri Lankans would have taken it. Personally I think Jayawardene’s protestations were not within the spirit of the game.

Murali to get all 10
Day 4 of the final test match between England and Sri Lanka. We’ll be chasing over 300 – and it’s a hard one to call. I don’t see England having a snowball’s chance of getting the runs and winning, but salvaging a draw would require batting for 2 days, which also seems unlikely – when you consider that the English batsmen will be facing The Little Wizard – Muttiah “Murali” Muralitharan.
On a wicket that will be heaven sent for his style of spin bowling, don’t be surprised if he walks away with all 10 second innings wickets.
