Last week, I wrote an entry about the new Myst Online episode that was going to be released. Well, guess what? It has been released! Why else would I talk about it again? To annoy you? Well, that is always possible. But I really try not to annoy too many people… most of the time.

So, just in case you’re too lazy to go back to the other entry to see what this new episode is all about, the new episode is called Deception and there will probably be lots of actual deception involved. Why else would they call it “deception”? Here’s a recap of what the new episode is about:

Despite the ongoing battles of the Bahro and the threat of the coming war, the DRC continues its efforts to introduce a new Guild system to the cavern. Toward that cause, new Guild pubs are introduced providing Guild members with new areas to congregate and socialize.

Meanwhile, Phil Henderson continues to spread information regarding the Bahro and their conflicts as a former DRC member returns to the cavern. What new information does he have to share and will it lead to salvation or destruction?

So, are you even remotely interested in playing this game? I mean, all you have to do is join GameTap, which is only a whopping $.99 the first month and then every month there after is only $9.95. You can’t beat that with a stick. Not even a really big stick. Not only do you get to play such fabulous games as Myst Online, but you also get access to over 900 games. New Myst Uru Online Episode Released

For those of you playing GameTap’s online game, Myst Online Uru Live, there is good news coming your way. You get to see a new episode or what other MMOs would call a “patch” coming out in September. Early September. So early, that you might get the update within the next week. But that’s just speculation, of course.

Here’s some news as to what to expect from the next episode, creatively and mysteriously called “Deception”:

New Myst Online Episode – “Deception”

On May 19th, Myst Online: Uru Live, is going to start using the episodic approach to pushing out new updates and story lines, according to this article at Adventure Gamers. We all know how these online games seem to push out these updates that we’re really not sure what they do. We’re not sure it they’re going to change our skill levels, introducing new baddies or just doing upgrades to servers and reading through long lists of changes seems pretty boring to me. I mean, just look at these patch notes from The World of Warcraft site. Doesn’t that seem a bit much to just… seamlessly integrate? Would it be better if there was a story line behind the reason all your skills were taken away from you? Wouldn’t it?!

Well, at least with Myst Online: Uru Live, there will be reasons for new characters and lands and all that cool stuff. The first episode to come out, which will be May 19th, will be titled Scars. Here’s what Adventure Gamers has to say about it:

The first of the new episodes is called “Scars”, and will launch on May 19th. The episode includes the brand new Age of Minkata, but players will find that “calamity arrives when someone close to them dies. The effects of this tragedy will change the course of the restoration forever.”

I’ve read that other online games have taken a similar approach and that many of the players like it. I think it’s a great way to get all those updates out there without confusing players. Of course, I am confused a lot, so maybe that’s the entire problem. Hmmmm….

Myst Live Does Episodic Gaming

According to Adventure Gamers, GameTap has released a Mac version of Myst Online Uru Live. According to GameTap’s site, the reason for this awesomeness is a celebration of sorts. The celebration of Myst Online being… well… online for a month now.

Now, if you’re not a new member… well, don’t you worry yourself. You now have a new area that you may go and play in called Dereno, where you will freeze your flanges off, because it is an arctic region. Good thing it isn’t real life. I would hate if my flanges were to freeze off.

Want to know what else is really cool about this month of Myst Online? The website says that they are allowing new members to play online for free. That’s right! You can play now for a big fat ZERO down. Now, you have no reason to not play this award winning online adventure game.

GameTap releases Myst Online Uru Live for Mac

According to Adventure Gamers, Myst Online: Uru received an official launch date from the oh so very wonderful GameTap. Myst is supposed to open its doors to all GameTap customers on February 15th, 2007. That’s just around the corner, my homies!

According to the Myst Online website, the first official multiplayer puzzle has been released to many an ooooh and ahhhh and they’re even making Mac users happy little campers by offering a Mac version of this awesome game.

If you’re worried about not being a GameTap member, because maybe you don’t live in Canada or the United States, don’t you worry you’re pretty little head. They’re planning on releasing a stand alone Myst Online game for Austrailia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherland, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. Try to say all those countries three times fast. I’m willing to bet you’ll pass out from lack of breath.

Myst Online: Uru receives an official launch date

The long awaited Myst Online: Uru Live (that’s quite the mouthful, isn’t it?) has finally found a website to call home. It’s about time, too, because I’ve been waiting for some information on this game and damnit… there hasn’t been any. EVIL.

The new game is slated to come out in a mere couple of weeks on GameTap, because GameTap is the bomb, apparently. Everyone is using GameTap. I think GameTap is probably going to take over the world, but that’s just a theory. The game has entered the final beta phase, so if you’re a member of GameTap, you can login to the beta version of Myst Online and take a peak of all the stuff you can do.

I mean, Forbes Magazine says “Forget (World of) Warcraft, Uru Live is the hottest game”. And if Forbes Magazine says that, then it must be true, because we all know Forbes knows EVERYTHING about gaming. Right? I think I’ll stick with Forbes for my business advice and not my gaming advice. Silly Forbes.
