Super Laid Back, smiling, chatting with their IPL teammates et al. It was as if they were just chilling as they knew that they would be in the final. Lack of Resolve is the buzz phrase here.

They looked as it they are on a walk in a park in downtown Karachi. Super Laid Back, smiling, chatting with their IPL teammates et al. It was as if they were just chilling as they knew that they would be in the final. Lack of Resolve is the buzz phrase here.

This is what Naseem Ashraf, the Chief guy in Pakistan Cricket, wrote in a letter to the Team Management: (six and out takes no responsibility of the leak):

Last night’s performance against India in which we lost by over 100 runs was embarrassing.

It is not a question of losing a match but our overall performance and the lack of resolve and commitment bothered me.

We were smiling and joking as if we were some junior team which was happy just to be given the privilege of playing against a top team. This has to stop.

Ashraf singled out wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, describing his performance as “pathetic”, particularly an incident when he dropped a catch but still claimed it.

This is unsporting behavior but perhaps one has to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I do not want such behavior from our players please warn everyone. We ought to be looking at playing another wicketkeeper,” Ashraf added

Quite needed, though I just don’t like blame games. Sir, please put your pads on or just let them play. Or call the selectors to get your niece selected.

I caught this interesting peace of news on the web yesterday. Having seen the massive interest which the Indian Premier League has generated, The Pakistan Cricket Board is seriously contemplating a similar tournament in Pakistan.
The business community in Pakistan is pretty keen on this idea. In an interview which the PCB Chief Naseem Ashraf, a controversial personality according to us, gave to the media, he said and I quote:

I caught this interesting peace of news on the web yesterday. Having seen the massive interest which the Indian Premier League has generated, The Pakistan Cricket Board is seriously contemplating a similar tournament in Pakistan.

The business community in Pakistan is pretty keen on this idea. In an interview which the PCB Chief Naseem Ashraf, a controversial personality according to us, gave to the media, he said and I quote:

“We will be waiting for a suitable time to start the tournament as many corporate institutions here have also shown their willingness to sponsor the event”

Though the International calendar is finding difficulties in creating a window for the IPL, he was confident that something could be worked out.

“There is presently no gap available for organizing such an event and the PCB would be working on the details”

Set Up:

13 Teams, each team allowed 2 foreign players, after all:

“But priority would be given to local players”

Our View: When it comes to Pakistan, there are always a lot of issues which precede cricket. Security being one of them. But what I also think is that it might be good. Lets the money come in. Let cricketers from all over the world benefit from the riches. Its entertainment for the rest of us.

Remember that sixandout had reported that Shoaib Akhtar of the Kolkata Knight Riders and er…Pakistan has been banned from International and Pakistan Domestic Cricket for 5 years. Then we reported that his appeal against his ban had been rejected and his ban stood. So far so good. Or bad, if you happen to be Shoaib. Then came the news that his ban had been suspended for a month so that he could play the IPL competition. This compels me to act a bit know-it-all-ish and quote myself from here:

Remember that sixandout had reported that Shoaib Akhtar of the Kolkata Knight Riders and er…Pakistan has been banned from International and Pakistan Domestic Cricket for 5 years. Then we reported that his appeal against his ban had been rejected and his ban stood. So far so good. Or bad, if you happen to be Shoaib. Then came the news that his ban had been suspended for a month so that he could play the IPL competition. This compels me to act a bit know-it-all-ish and quote myself from here:

Though it seems that his career is finally over, you never know with the Pakistan Cricket Board, given the past incidents, and more

What I wanted to talk about is the dramatic way in which the incidents have panned out. Though being nothing new, it sure is surprising. It all started with Shoaib being bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a huge sum of money. Then he being banned for 5 years for reasons where we are not going right now (he hit a teammate). Then he goes in the press saying that Mr Naseem Ashraf, the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board vindicated him because he refused to pay him a share of his IPL moolah. Then there is talk of Mr Ashraf suing Akhtar on grounds of defamation.

Meanwhile, the IPL says that it won’t play a banned player. Too Bad. PCB reverts, the ban is on hold for one month. Now, suddenly, the lawsuit has also been taken back. Strange. Maybe Mr Akhtar has realised that paying a part of the earnings is the only way out. Or so it seems.

This is just an opinion. There are many. What do you think?
