High-Flying Suns Ready For The Champions

With the best record in the NBA, the Phoenix Suns are rising out of the West. After all, nobody expected them to be 8-1 at the beginning of the season. But the Suns, with a little help from All-Star Steve Nash, are proving everyone wrong.
Tonight, they’ll have a chance to see just how good they really are when they play the defending NBA Champions. The Los Angeles Lakers are currently 6-1, and they are on a mission to repeat.

Magic Smash Hornets in Preseason Action

Last year, the Orlando Magic made an exciting run to the NBA Finals. Last year, the New Orleans Hornets got dominated in the first round of the playoffs. On Tuesday, things appeared to be the same.
In preseason action, the Magic smashed the Hornets by a final score of 121-86. Orlando was led by Ryan Anderson and Vince Carter — two players they acquired via a trade with the New Jersey Nets. Anderson had 22 points in 19 minutes, while Carter had 18 points in 33 minutes. Combined, the two players hit 9-of-14 three-pointers.

Darius Songaila Traded to the Hornets

Although the New Orleans Hornets had already improved this summer by trading for Emeka Okafor, they still had one glaring flaw — bench depth. On Wednesday, the Hornets made a move to improve that area of their squad by trading Antonio Daniels to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Darius Songaila and Bobby Brown.
The biggest name in this deal is Songaila. The 31-year-old is a very solid scoring bigman off the bench. Last year as a member of the Washington Wizards the native of Lithuania averaged 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per contest. He also shot 53.2% from the …read more

Los Angeles Clippers Acquire Rasual Butler

The Los Angeles Clippers were able to trade for Rasual Butler of the New Orleans Hornets without giving back anything of value. With the Hornets looking to shed salary, they were happy simply send Butler and cash in return for a conditional 2016 second round pick.
The Hornets still need to shed about $4 million to get under the luxury tax threshold. They have until the February trade deadline to make a deal to avoid paying the tax.
In Butler, the Clippers are getting a solid player who is coming off of the best season of his career. Playing in all 82 …read more

Hornets Add Free Agent Ike Diogu

Ike Diogu, a free agent bigman who has seemingly played everywhere, has agreed to join a new team — the New Orleans Hornets. Contract details have not yet been released.

Nuggets Stomp Hornets by 58 in New Orleans

Entering Game 4, the New Orleans Hornets were hoping to tie their series against the Denver Nuggets at 2-2. That didn’t happen, to say the least. The Nuggets went into New Orleans and absolutely demolished the Hornets by 58 points, 121-63.
The 58-point margin of victory tied the largest in the history of the NBA. In 1956, the Lakers beat the Hawks 133-75.
The Nuggets finished with seven players in double-digits. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 26 points and seven rebounds, while Chauncey Billups chipped in 17 points and eight assists. Linas Kleiza, J.R. Smith, Chris Andersen and Nene also …read more

Tyson Chandler Sidelined up to Two Weeks

Tyson Chandler has been plagued by injuries all season. The New Orleans Hornets center even failed a physical after he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder that resulted in the trade getting rescinded. After missing his fifth consecutive game on Friday night, it was announced that Chandler will be out for up to two more weeks.
Earlier in this week, the Hornets were hopeful that Chandler would be able to play in a matter of days. However, after his sore right ankle didn’t show signs of improvement, the Hornets opted to have his ankle immobilized by a walking boot.

Man Hits Face on Rim During Hornets Game – Video

Check out this hilarious video of a man hitting his face on the rim during a New Orleans Hornets game. The performer goes up for a dunk off of a trampoline and his face hits the rim. Although it looked like it hurt, the guy appeared to be alright.
The video quality isn’t very good but this story has been all over Yahoo News and it has generated many a laugh. The moral of the story is to actually practice your trampoline dunk before you do it in front of thousands of fans and do a face plant into the rim.
