Each team still has six games to win before they start the playoffs, but looking at their schedules I’m not seeing a tough road ahead if they both keep playing like they have been.

I was imagining this weekend what it would be like for the Saints and the Colts to end up facing each other in Super Bowl XLIV with their undefeated seasons still in tact. Can you imagine?
Here’s the remaining schedules for both teams:

New Orleans may have to fight hard against the Patriots, and Indianapolis has three divisional games against teams that always seem to play us well when they need to in the end.

Then both teams would have to maintain their winning records through the playoffs of course, but can you imagine if it happened?

The Falcons got 151 rushing yards and a touchdown from Michael Turner. Matt Ryan struggled a bit, finishing with 289 passing yards to go with one touchdown and three interceptions.

The star wide receivers on both teams shined. Roddy White had 108 yards and a touchdown, while Marques Colston had 85 yards and a touchdown.

The Saints are now 7-0 on the season and look like a Super Bowl contender. The Falcons, who are also in the NFC South, will have to play well in the second half of the 2009 NFL season to earn a spot in the playoffs.

On the season, Evans had five rushes for 16 yards and a touchdown. He also had ten receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. While the stats might not look overly great, Evans ability to produce from the fullback position was an important aspect to New Orleans’ offense.

Evans will also be missed because of the positive influence he had in the locker room.

“Heath was not only a real productive player, but he’s an awesome guy — an awesome locker room guy, great for that running backs room,” said quarterback Drew Brees.

To help replace Evans, the Saints signed Kyle Eckel. Lynell Hamilton and David Thomas could also see some time at tight end.

In Week 8, the Saints will try to improve to 7-0 when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

4. Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have won each of their five games. While nothing is too wrong with their squad, Brett Favre remains a question mark. Can he survive the entire 17 week NFL schedule?

3. New Orleans Saints
When it comes to an explosive offense, the Saints are at the top of the list. And though their defense is obviously improved, is it improved enough?

2. Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning has been fantastic. He has easily been the best player in the NFL this season. That said, he’ll need some help to win it all. His supporting cast isn’t somewhat questionable.

1. New York Giants
The Giants just look like a winner. They are tough on the road, they execute well and they are proven. As long as Eli Manning stays healthy, this team will be difficult to beat.

Although the Broncos are 4-0, it’s difficult to believe they are for real. Their offense appears to be a lot less potent than last year. Defensively, they have been very good — but will it last?

Brett Favre had an outing to remember on Monday Night Football. The Vikings look like legit Super Bowl contenders. However, whether Favre can last a complete season playing at a high level is unknown.

3. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have the most explosive offense in the NFL. Their defense isn’t great but it is much improved from the last few seasons. At their best, the Saints are very hard to beat.

2. Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning seems to have regained his spot as the best quarterback in the NFL. Last season, he dealt with a knee injury for much of the season. This year, Manning has turned back the clock.

1. New York Giants
With a hard hitting defense and an offense that always seems to make the big play, the Giants look like the best team in the NFL. If Eli Manning can stay healthy and Steve Smith can become a legit star receiver, another Super Bowl championship could be in the cards.

Kim and Reggie split in July, but still remained friendly. It was a very mature breakup, with both of them wishing the other well and not spilling any details of the relationship. (And how often do we see that in Hollywood? Or in non-famous couples, for that matter?)

Just one day after Khloe Kardashian married L.A. Lakers player Lamar Odom, Kim and Reggie decided to rekindle their romance. No word on whether Reggie was at the wedding with Kim, but sources confirm that Reggie’s parents were there. So it reaffirms that Kim and Reggie were still on the best of terms.
These two dated for a couple years before splitting this summer, so my bet is that their romance is here to stay. Anyone else agree with me?

According to reports, Hartley was suspended due to testing positive for Adderall — a stimulant.

Last season as a rookie, Hartley took over eight games into the season. In the final eight games, he was flawless. He made all 13 of his field goal attempts and all 28 of his extra points. Although he didn’t attempt any 50+ yard field goals, he was 4-for-4 from 40 yards or longer.

The 23-year-old kicker played his college football at Oklahoma. Coming into this season, the Saints viewed him as a strength to their football team. Now he’ll have to watch the first four games from home.

Hartley’s excuse is that he took Adderall to help him drive to New Orleans from Dallas and he didn’t know it was on the banned substances list for the NFL. Adderall is a psychostimulant that decreases fatigue while improving concentration and alertness.

Brees hadn’t been close to his mother in recent years. In fact, Brees said a few years ago that their relationship soured after Brees didn’t let his mom be his agent.

Mina Brees was an attorney in Austin, Texas. She ran for public office in 2006 and narrowly lost. According to newspaper reports, her business practices came under suspicion recently when she sent bogus letters to various restaurants asking for $25,000.

Jenkins is a cornerback out of Ohio State who many experts believe could start for the Saints as a rookie. While missing the beginning of camp won’t help, it likely isn’t too late.

Said Mickey Loomis, the GM of the Saints: “We’re glad to have agreed to this five-year deal with Malcolm and look forward to seeing him at practice with his teammates. He is an intelligent young man and given what we saw from him on the field during the offseason, I’m confident that he will get up to speed sooner rather than later.”

To win a starting gig, Jenkins will need to beat out Tracy Porter or Jabari Greer. Randall Gay may also be in the competition.
