Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich went on record today saying that a recent decision by the Iowa Supreme Court to legalize gay marriage was “outrageously wrong.”

Industrial strength irony detectors immediately exploded all across the country since Gingrich calling anyone “outrageously wrong” is like Bernie Madoff accusing the pizza delivery guy of trying to rip him off by not taking expired coupons.

Gingrich went on to say the ruling demonstrated “judicial arrogance” in an apparent reference to the judges’ amazing hubris in insisting that equal rights be extended to everyone — a concept Gingrich obviously has a hard time getting his head around.

“I always thought the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights were over-rated,” explained Gingrich, “If we don’t let the government tell you who you can marry, there’s no telling what other individual rights people will think they’re entitled to.”

Breitbart.com reports that “Gingrich is mentioned as a possible Republican presidential contender in 2012,” but you can be pretty sure most of the “mentioning” is being done by Mrs. Gingrich in an effort to get her blowhard husband to shut up.

“Sure, honey, former Congressmen with a history of philandering and House ethics violations are constantly being elected President,” she probably said while muttering how her husband is completely incapable of recognizing sarcasm when he hears it.

Do you have any idea how bad a screw-up you have to be to get sanctioned by the House Ethics Committee like Gingrich was? Wikipedia has 12 paragraphs and nearly 1300 words dedicated to Charles Rangel’s ethical problems and he hasn’t even been asked to appear in front of any kind of panel.

A-list Hollywood stars have a better chance of being electrocuted for a DUI than a Congressman has of getting sanctioned by an “ethics” committee of his peers.
