Ben Roethlisberger in OT 13 – 10

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
After 2 days of talking Fantasy Football starting with Tom Brady to help Squibster (that’s me), and ending with Brett Favre may lose streak, the Squibster was ready for some real football and what better treat than the team that played the best for most of the regular season, the Tennessee Titans playing the team that played the best in the post season, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It is early in the season and does not really matter a whole lot, but the Pittsburgh Steelers took the game to overtime and drove the …read more

Wildcat offense rules for now

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Miami used it all the time and made the playoffs after only winning 1 game. Arizona uses it a lot and made the Super Bowl. What is it? The Wildcat offense.
So how does it work? That is not an easy question to answer, because it works by forcing the defense to go 11 on 11 and not 11 on 10 which is what a conventional pro set offense uses. In other words, the quarterback is not dropping back and handing off, thus removing himself from the …read more

Matt Stafford will start for Lions

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Here is your chance to say, “Told you so”!
Yeah, you know who you are, you’re the one always crying about how bad your Lions are and that they do everything wrong. From the beginning you screamed the Lions should draft a tackle, as if one tackle would have made a difference and the Lions would go from 0 -16 to 9 – 7, because of a tackle.
The Squibster did not agree and will not agree even if Stafford lays an egg. This team needed a leader, not a tackle. …read more

Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks in Fantasy Football

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Hey, nothing like a good list to get you going and this one promises to hold some controversy. Yahoo Sports asked their top 4 Football Fantasy writers to rank the quarterbacks and rank they did.
This strikes me as an easy pick for the Fantasy world, but all 4 of them picked Drew Brees to be the Fantasy leader at quarterback. It never happens that way, so maybe you should draft someone else, just to be safe.
The number two pick by all 4 was Tom Brady. Sounds like you …read more

Matt Stafford must start for the Lions

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Will Matt Stafford earn the starting job with the Detroit Lions?
He will for the Thursday night game. Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton are both injured and cannot play, so the Lions have signed two more quarterbacks.
The Lions on Tuesday signed two new quarterbacks — Brooks Bollinger and Kevin O’Connell — and now carry five on the roster. The addition of Bollinger and O’Connell was necessary to replace Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton, who missed Tuesday’s practice with injuries.
Culpepper has eight stitches in a foot he injured at his …read more

Brett Favre may have cracked rib

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
How do you like your ribs? If you are the Minnesota Vikings, then you like the ribs of your new star quarterback to be healthy and in one piece, but that may not be the case. Michele Tafoya, the ESPN sideline reporter mentioned that Brett Favre thinks he may have a cracked rib.
Now Brett’s ability to play with pain is legendary and this will not keep him out of the game, but you have to begin to wonder about his overall health.
Favre, who came out of retirement only two …read more

Cutler vs. Orton

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
The trade of Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears from the Denver Broncos for Kyle Orton just goes to set up a natural rivalry for years to come, that is assuming Kyle Orton continues to start at Denver, which is doubtful. Kyle is the type of quarterback that does not hurt you, but cannot make all the big time plays to help you. Jay Cutler is the other kind of quarterback, maybe closer to being Brett Favre than Peyton Manning.
Right now with a minute to go in the game …read more

Matt Stafford one of many

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Drew Sharp is often the voice of doom in Detroit area sports and the Detroit Lions never fail to disappoint. Today Drew is harping on the quarterback battles going on in the state of Michigan. UofM’s Rich Rodriquez talks about starting 3 quarterbacks against Western Michigan and Drew sharply comments that starting 3 quarterbacks is coach speak for having none. Michigan State University has a QB battle going on between Keith Nichol and Kirk Cousins in spite of all the previous publicity claiming Nichol to be super quarterback.

NFL won’t bet on it, Delaware

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
If you think for one minute that the National Football League and commissioner Roger Goodell do not notice all the gambling going on and welcome it, then put your money where your mouth is and ante up young man, because the NFL loves gambling, they just can’t admit it.
The Squibster loves to play Fantasy Football where all you bet is your skill at picking players and your pride and it forces me to watch a lot of football. Teams that don’t even mean anything to me grace my cable TV …read more

Tom Brady needs a new contract

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Back up the Brinks truck and just let the money just spill out into Tom’s garage. That would be the bonus money alone. Hey, make that several Brink’s trucks.
Just how do you name a figure that makes any sense at all after Philip Rivers received 93 Million bucks from the San Diego Chargers? Big Ben got a big contract and Eli Manning got a Giant contract, so where does that put that famous Patriot Tom Brady?
Why does the image of the Brinks truck keep coming back to me?
“If …read more
