The 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide football team is one of the top teams in the country and will compete for the SEC championship all year long. This team has undergone a resurgence under head coach Nick Saban, who led the team to an undefeated regular season in 2008. The team did go on to lose the SEC championship game to the eventual national champion Florida Gators and they also lost the Sugar Bowl to undefeated Utah Utes, but the season was still a major success for this prestigious football program.

Earlier today, I reported on a story involving UCLA’s coaches and their salaries. Both head football coach Rick Neuheisel and the school’s basketball coach have volunteered to reduce their salaries to help relieve the state and school budget. Charlie Weis, Notre Dame, $4.2 million
Nick Saban, Alabama, $3.9 million

Probably not what you were expecting when you walked into that sandwich shop, but don’t worry – there’s no white powder in your sub. Apparently the other Jimmy Johns, a former linebacker at the University of Alabama, was arrested recently for selling cocaine to undercover officers.
Johns was also charged with possessing ecstasy pills. Crimson Tide head football coach Nick Saban dismissed Johns from team after learning of the charges.
Thanks to the Tuscaloosa County Jail database you can get a look at Mr. Jimmy Wesley Johns in all his glory here.
