Nike Standing by Tiger

At least that’s what Nike chairman and co-founder Phil Knight is saying. A day after Accenture dropped Tiger Woods, and two days after Gillette did the same, Nike, Woods’ biggest endorsement deal, is still committed to the fallen star. Knight told SportsBusiness Journal that the scandal surrounding Tiger’s infidelities is all “part of the game.”
Nike, like any smart business, will run a background check on future employees–and Woods was no exception. Tiger came up clean, according to Knight, before signing the endorsement deal with Nike.

Nike Debuts Trainer 1 Shoe

Nike — along with Beijing Olympic Decathalon Gold Medalist Bryan Clay; and NFL players Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu; and NBA All-Stars Brandon Roy and Amar’e Stoudemire — introduced the Nike Trainer 1 today. The shoe is actually a blast from the past. It’s inspired by the popular Nike Air Trainer worn by Bo Jackson and John McEnroe 20 years ago.

Apple and Nike partnership

There’s a great article over at BusinessWeek Online on the partnership of the iPod-running shoes team up between Apple and Nike.
Nike CEO Mike Parker had more to say when it came to the iPod integration, “Obviously, a lot of that was already happening … If the shoe and the iPod could talk to each other, what would they say and what’s the potential of that connection? We got the creative side from both companies and we started exploring.”
