Dragon Quest’s Slime is like an entity on its own. It can change into any color or any shape or any function, that is if it wants to. For instance, the Dragon Quest Slime Speaker Stand by Hori can act as a speaker and a stand for your Nintendo DS. It can keep your DS upright and free your hands to do other stuff.

The Slime is also an external speaker to boost the sound from your video games to another level. Honestly, some think that this blue thingy is cuter than their boyfriends.
US$58.90 @ NCSX.

A Nintendo DS glucose reader for kids that can be plugged into the DS or DS Lite’s Slot-2 has came been out on the market. Paul Wessel, the parent of a diabetic child, has helped to develop the Bayer’s DIDGET meter which can reward children for consistent testing.

Test results can be converted into reward points which can be used in the game to unlock levels and purchase in-game stuff. The games are Knock ‘Em Down: World’s Fair video game and Mini Game Arcade.
A pretty useful DS device to help the kids but not for the DSi though.

Apparently, Nintendo understands the pain and frustration of their gamers and have offered a solution – “demo play.” This in-game help system is set to debut this December along with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

A Nintendo designer told USA Today that the program will give players the option of letting the game play by itself until it gets through the difficult spots. When the player thinks it is safe, they can resume play. Think of it like “autopilot” for video games.

Now that you know what it is, I would love to know what you think. I know they are trying to make the games more accessible to a wider audience but I really hate this idea. Of course, people don’t have to use it but for a company that has been raising the bar and pushing players to be more creative and active, this sounds like an awfully lazy add-on. Yes, I know there are walkthroughs and cheat codes but people still have to implement these tips. There’s nothing like trying to complete a level for hours (days, weeks, etc..) and finally making it through. I don’t want to be tempted to skip that whole process. How do you feel about it?
