Black Wii Remote and a QVC Video

I had planned on talking about how Nintendo is coming out with a black version of all things Wii so people can “customize their setup” [Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing] but then I got distracted by looking at TMZ.com [Don't judge!] and saw a video of a QVC guy making a very big mistake.

If you have a Wii, I’m sure you always follow ALL of the saftey instructions and ensure that your controller is properly tethered to your wrist at all times.

You do remember all of those “Wii injury” videos that came out right after the Wii launched, right?

Well, this video is kind of like those except the only thing that got injured was a flat screen TV…while the cameras were rolling.

How’s that for awesome?

A Nintendo DS glucose reader for kids that can be plugged into the DS or DS Lite’s Slot-2 has came been out on the market. Paul Wessel, the parent of a diabetic child, has helped to develop the Bayer’s DIDGET meter which can reward children for consistent testing.

Test results can be converted into reward points which can be used in the game to unlock levels and purchase in-game stuff. The games are Knock ‘Em Down: World’s Fair video game and Mini Game Arcade.

A pretty useful DS device to help the kids but not for the DSi though.

The Super Family Computer or Super Famicom was a global success during the 16-bit era. Nintendo has used this console to beat the Sega Genesis hands down. If there was no controller, the SFC would be like a body without body parts.

NCSX has the Super Gameboy Commander which bears the likeness of the Gameboy handheld portable. A and B buttons are located on the lower right intentionally. $19.90 for one.

When it comes to Wii Sports Bowling, I can sit on my couch, whip out my Wii remote and scores a perfect 300 occasionally. Maybe CTA Digital is looking into my kind of Wii bowling nerds who find Wii bowling boring to come up with the Wii Bowl.

Pimp Your NES, The Pimptendo

The first look at this Pimptendo or Pimpendo reminds me of Marty the Zebra from Madagascar. For the successful bidder of this cleaned, refurbished and pimped NES system, you can save the Zebra out from the zoo and get it right into your home.

Numerous LEDs are injected into the guts of the retro video gaming system to light the hell out of it in the dark. Zebra fur, peacock feather, purple frill and more have really pimped this NES far away and beyond imagination.

Would You Play Nintendo on Autopilot?

Have you ever been stuck on some level and had to either give up or ask someone else to do it for you? If you read my “Top 5 Best (And Worst) Yoshi Moments” post, you will know that I was never able to complete that awful Yoshi level in Super Mario Sunshine.

Apparently, Nintendo understands the pain and frustration of their gamers and have offered a solution – “demo play.” This in-game help system is set to debut this December along with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

A Nintendo designer told USA Today that the program will give players the option of letting the game play by itself until it gets through the difficult spots. When the player thinks it is safe, they can resume play. Think of it like “autopilot” for video games.

Now that you know what it is, I would love to know what you think. I know they are trying to make the games more accessible to a wider audience but I really hate this idea. Of course, people don’t have to use it but for a company that has been raising the bar and pushing players to be more creative and active, this sounds like an awfully lazy add-on. Yes, I know there are walkthroughs and cheat codes but people still have to implement these tips. There’s nothing like trying to complete a level for hours (days, weeks, etc..) and finally making it through. I don’t want to be tempted to skip that whole process. How do you feel about it?
