Kevin Laue knew he was a long-shot. It’s not every day that Division I coaches sign a one-handed center to play for their school. But Barry Rohrssen of Manhattan College figured Laue deserved as much of a chance as any two-handed center.

Kevin Laue will play Division I basketball for Manhattan College next season.

“We take chances on kids who have poor academic histories, who have disciplinary problems both on the court and off the court,” Rohrssen said, according to ESPN.com. “We give opportunities to players who don’t appreciate them, who take them for granted. For all the right reasons, Kevin deserves this chance, and he should make the most of this opportunity.”

Laue played at Fork Union Military Academy in hopes of impressing college recruiters. He averaged 10 points and five rebounds for the season.

Laue’s story has already captured the attention of a lot of people, including former president, George Bush. And playing for a school in the heart of NYC will offer him a chance to make an even larger impact.

What’s better than a hybrid-only luxury car service in the Big Apple? A hybrid-only luxury car service that donates a portion of their profits to NYC-based environmental causes.

While I haven’t used this service personally, it sounds like they’re keeping luxury and environment in mind. Their fleet is made up of 2007 and 2008 Toyota Camry and luxury Lexus hybrids, including SUVs. Inside the car, drivers have navigation and screen communication in the front seat, so passengers are never bothered by driver-dispatch radio conversations. Also suited the GPS transmitters, the cars can be tracked by dispatch to give clients a more accurate arrival time.

In addition to helping New York City endeavors – like Trees New York, the New York Restoration Project and Green Guerrillas – they let the client choose which group will get the support from their dollars.
