Oshkosh Gets $33M for Camera Systems

Oshkosh recently announced that it has landed a $33 million deal with the U.S. Army that calls for the company to provide camera systems on M-ATVs. The cameras, which will be rear-mounted, will be placed on more than 2,200 vehicles.
Ken Juergens of Oshkosh pointed out that these camera systems will help the troops in Afghanistan.
Said Juergens: “We are pleased to work with our customer to provide this vehicle upgrade for the benefit of the U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Oshkosh Gets $1.06 Billion M-ATVs Contract

Oshkosh, a company that is well-known for manufacturing military vehicles, announced that they received a contract valued at $1.06 billion on Friday. The order, which came from the United States military, calls for Oshkosh to deliver 1,700 more M-ATVs by the second month of 2010. This is the second contract worth over $1 billion that Oshkosh has received in the last couple of months.
M-ATVs, a type of all terrain vehicle used by the military, reportedly are especially capable of maneuvering well in off-road conditions. Robert G. Bohn, the CEO of Oshkosh, doesn’t see any problems in fulfilling the order.

Pentagon Gives $1.06 Billion Job to Oshkosh

Oshkosh Corp. has now become the object of envy from every major defense contractor in the United States, as it will sign a $1.06 billion dollar contract with the Pentagon to produce mine-resistant trucks for military use in Afghanistan. The contract is one of Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ plans to improve the military’s effectiveness in the fight against insurgents.
 
There may be little time to celebrate for Oshkosh, though, as Pentagon leaders encourage the company to hurry their production of the vehicles.
